I want to save a struct to disk.... as plain text.
At the moment I do it with a function that just
writes the data using fprintf. I mean like this:
fprintf(fp, "%d %d", my_struct.a, my_struct.b)
This way I have to write another "serializing"
function for every new kind of struct I want
to write, though. Is there a way to write
functions that can write/read any struct
to/from plain text format in a portable way?

Hi,
I am writing a messaging library which will allow me to send a generic
message structure with custom "payloads".
In many cases, a message must store a non-linear data structure (i.e.
"payload") using pointers. Examples of these are binary trees, hash
tables etc. Thus, the message itself contains only a pointer to the
actual data. When the message is sent to the same processor, these
pointers point to the original locations, which...

Hi Folks!
Here's a strange behaviour:
Without a properties SET accessor (see code below), the property will not
serialize.

Hi,
I have declared an array holding a custom declared
structure. The structure looks like this:
Private Structure MnuDataFrmFile
Public menuGroup As String
Public ItemDesc As String
Public ItemPrice As Integer
Private PluValue As Integer

I get the following Exception "The data at the root level is invalid. Line
1, position 642" whenever I try to deserialize an incoming SOAP message. The
incoming message is formed well and its length is 642 bytes ( I have
appended it to the end of this message).
I suspect that the reason may have something to do with an incorrect
declaration of which class to de-serialize to.
In the attached code I substituted @@@@@@@ in the code below with...

I am trying to implement a CSS hierarchical unfolding menu on a site. The thing is, it needs to be dynamically populated from the results of a database query. I previously had the menu working but then it was ‘hard coded’ and not built on the fly.
Menu description:
2 top level items “Company” and “Products” (we will ignore “Company” since it is still hard coded and not causing a problem.
Below “Products” we have hard coded “By...

Hi,
Can someone give me some pointers on how to approach creating multi
level category navigation for a website?
Take ebay for example. No matter where you are, you have a navigation
bar telling you how you got there, and can click on these to go to any
of the parent levels;
Music > CDs > Folk > American

Greetings,
When directly serializing C++ structures to a file with the standard
library functions giving the address of the data and length of
structure using the sizeof operator, do I risk portability because of
different compilers packing structures into different sizes or
components of this structure to different address boundaries (for
example placing in multiples of 4 on a 32bit system)? Once the file is
serialized, does the same...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
