Hi, One of my clients has the following situation. They use Access DB for data update etc. some business functions while they also want to view the Access data quickly and more efficiently in SQL Server 2000. Huge Access db with over 100 user tables, over 60 MB data. The DTS package that comes with SQL Server 2000 seems pretty "messy" in the sense that it assumes that one needs to do one time import only or accurately it does not...

Hi, Maybe this is an easy task, but I'm having a really hard time figuring out how to do this. I'm a complete newbie to SQL Server. I have a database dump file from MySQL that's in .sql format. I'm trying to figure out how to import that into SQL Server 2000 so that I'll be able to manipulate it in a gui format, rather than command line. I can't find any import that takes a .sql file. I've been trying to load it into the query...

Background: I am using a MS Access 2000 front end with SQL Server 8.0 back end. I have the requirement to import all text files (regardless of filename) from a given folder on the network into a table within SQL Server. This import needs to run continuously, as more text files will be saved in the folder by a separate system and they need to be updated into the SQL Server table. I have a DTS which can import all text files from the...

I want to move my Access 2K database into MSDE. The Access Upsizing Wizard crashes (a known bug wi A2K), so I'm using the following suggested method: Access --> New --> Project (Existing Database) This asks for the name of the .adp file to create and then launches into the Data Link Properties dialog box (so far so good) I select my MSDE server from the drop-down, enter the sa account & passwd, attach a database file and try to...

I must import some exemplary file to database (MS Srrver 2000) ofcourse using procedure Transact SQL. This file must: 1.Read the xml file 2. Create table 3. Import this date from xml file to my database Ps. I create procedure who File xml imports to base, but unfortunately she only schedule when earlier create a table or table is created. So I need (I think) create such mini parser in language transact SQL.

Hi, In SQL 2000 if I wanted to take a complete copy of another running sql database all did was create a new database locally and right-click it and select import and point to another database and click copy everything (stored procedures as well) and it did it for. I can't seem to find the same functionality in SQL 2005. You can copy tables and views but not the whole database. Is there another way of doing this? Our SQL database is...

Hi I need to read in a large set of text files (9GB+ each) into a database table based on fixed width lengths. There are several ways to complete this, but I am wondering if anyone has insight into the FASTEST way to read in the data and chop it up ahead of posting it into the DB. So far, things work, but they are far slower than expected.

I am trying to import a data file, which is tab delimited, using BULK INSERT. I have used BCP to create a format file, since the destination table has around 20 columns, but the data file has only three. Here's the problem: The columns I am trying to import comprise ID (an int identity column), Name (a varchar(255) column and Status (a small int column). The data file contains identity values for the first column, so I am using the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
