XML Distributed Applications Walkthrough. ACCESS DENIED

Hi,

I am trying to finally get the Distributed Applications Walkthrough
accomplished. I have followed the instruction to the letter in both the
..net book and online documentation.

Steps taken:
1) From IIS properties for "AuthorsWebServ ice" ; unchecked Anonymous access;
checked Use Windows Authentication.
2) Added line "<identity impersonate="tr ue"/>" to web.config of
AuthorsWebServi ce

When I try to Add Web Reference in both WebClient or WindowsClient I keep
getting Access Denied when I type
http://localhost/AuthorsWebService/A...ervice.vsdisco.

Following is the stack trace generated

Stack Trace:

I am writing a distributed transaction code. My current scenario include a client database(Suppose client- having 4 main database) which can be installed anywhere which would connect to a public database placed at ISP datacentre(Suppose Server- having 2 database). this server database is added to client as linked server through vb.net interface. i have a transmission routine which transmitts the data from the client to Server and update client...

Dear, I have some considerations I need to take designing a distributed application (it's for a school project). Basically I'm looking for some reference or guidiance material/literature and advises on (potential) issues I should take caution for. The design involves a distributed simulation application. It simulates sheeps in a pasture, together with dogs, wolves and shepherd. The pastures contain grass. There are also multiple...

Hi, We have a Windows 2000 network with a couple of Win2k servers. I'm looking at fault tolerance with regards our Access databases , of which we have a number of backend mdbs sitting on the server, with front ends residing on the clients. Normally, if the server holding the Access backends goes down, it's a case of restoring last official data backup onto the spare server and then individually remapping all the clients to this...

we have developed a .NET class library that defines a family of reusable business objects. the class library is developed in C#, and works quite well. one problem, however, is that as more and more applications are being developed to consume this class library, we are running into deployment and version controll issues. i recall a lot of this kind of thing being solved with distributed application models, such as the EJB...

Hey everyone, another question for the list. In particular i'm looking for comments on some of the distributed technologies supported in python. Specifically, I'm looking at XML-RPC, RPyC, CORBA, and Twisted. Before you offer any comments let me talk about what i'm doing a little bit. Right now I'm creating an execution framework. The framework aims to allow users to create a modular system by which engineers can mitigate some of the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
