Office interoperabilit y documentation

Does anybody know where could i find documentation of .NET interoperabilit y
with Office.
I know it's through COM objects, but, where could i find documentation of
those objects, their methods, parameters or arguments, properties, etc..
I'm interested in learning about interoperabilit y with Excel and Word
(Office 2000, XP and 2003)
Thanks in advance

I know that Office XP provides a PIA (Primary Interoperabiltiy Assembly) so that C# and VB.NET Applications can call into the Office COM based interfaces. But programming in C# is a real pain, because the all optional parameters have to be filled in, resulting in enormous and meaningless parameters lists ( The PIA/ COM interfaces do not support proper method overloading) VB.NET is better. When Automating Office Applications might as...

Is there any reason, other than the distributable Access runtime, to use Office XP developer? I tried installing it on my system, but apparently I need to install/update a bunch of components - "Windows Component Update" or something... not sure I want to do this. What can I do with the Developer edition that I can't do with the Professional edition? I found this on the net, but it sounds like marketing hype:

Hi, I am developing a new application running on Windows platform that needs to interface with existing legacy code - written in basic C / C++. I am trying to evaluate Java vs C# implementations. Originally, I have the impression that C# should be a clear winner. I started with Java and using the guideline from the book "Java Native Interface". Though complex, the book provide details of the practical implementation and potential...

I posted for help on legacy code interface 2 days ago. Probably I didn't make it clear in my original mail. I got a couple of answers but none of them address my issues directly (See attached response). My first reply directed me to source code migration but I didn't have the source code. The second reply mentioned about .NET interoperability (PInvoke I think) but I MENTIONED THAT I COULDN'T FIND ANY DOCUMENTATION FROM MSDN LIBRARY BASED ON...

Hi I need to call methods from office apps from my vb.net app. Some of my clients are still on office 2000 so to maintain compatibility I can not use office 2003 PIA. Can I avoid the whole PIA route by using late binding? Could someone please give me an example of using late binding for calling office apps? Thanks

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
