2.0 Setup requires 2.0 to be installed???

Something I don't understand.

I've got .NET 1.1 currently installed.

I go to install 2.0 and the setup gives me:

"Setup has detected that the following prerequsite programs are not
installed:
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0"

Seems like a catch-22. I'm trying to install 2.0 so how can that be a
prerequisite?

Do I have to remove my current 1.1 setup first...???

Thanks,

Never mind! I'm an idiot. I was trying to install the 2.0 SDK, not the
framework!

I just started using VB.NET and am trying to go through a complete test project. I did some db stuff, added a crystal reports form for output and the program runs as it should. Now how do I create a setup package to run on other computers? Does .NET use only the Windows Installer process? VB6 had a Setup and Deployment Wizard that collected all dependants and you could add extra things like readme files and the like. Then it packaged the...

I'm currently writing install/setup scripts in bash and Python for installing our product on UNIX servers. Our products depends on several packages that need to be configured, compiled, and installed. For example, we have an PHP product. The setup configures and installs the following: Apache, openssl, mod_ssl, pnglib, php. Most of these follow the standard "tar zxf, configure, make, make install" (except for libpng... grrr...). The setup...

Hello, Using VC 2003 with C# I built a 1.1 .NET app and an associated setup application. When my setup is run on a machine with .NET 2.0 installed it complains: "This setup requires the .NET Framework version 1.1.4322. Please install the .NET Framework and run this setup again. The .NET Framework can be obtained from the web. Would you like to do this now?"

I had v1.0, v1.1 and v2.0 of .NET framework installed on my laptop and that was causing me a lot of grief. So I uninstalled v2.0 and pressed on with developing stuff in v1.0. Everything was great. I wrote a whole application. After completion I added a setup project. The setup project builds fine. But when I try to install the application, it gives me an error saying "This setup requires .NET framework." (Please install it). I checked the...

**NOTE: This article is written using the 5.8.8 Alpha2 release of Strawberry Perl. I am writing this article with much joy and glee. This is due to the fact that Active State no longer has a monopoly on the issue of Perl on the Windows platform As anyone who code's Perl on the Windows platform knows, the choice that you have (had) for Perl on Windows was Active State. It worked great for your scripting but when it came to installing...

I am building a Setup Project in Visual Studio 2008 for a project which only requires .NET Framework 2.0. When I build the Setup Project and attempt to utilize the .MSI file created by the Setup Project, the computer complains that .NET Framework 3.5 is required to run the setup. Can I configure the Setup Project to be built using .NET Framework 2.0 instead of 3.5? The end result is that my machines have 2.0 installed and I don't need...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
