Memory Exception Errors (how to track down??)

I am looking for someway to track down Memory Exception Errors that
occur with our .NET app running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Is
there any third party tools that can analyze and pin-point issues on a
production server?

Thanks

You could check out a tool called boundschecker.
It will do the trick but I think its quite expensive, not to mention
complex. If its a good idea to run it on a production server I dont know.

The error message: 0x791f0d83 referenced memory at 0x0000000003. The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate and Cancel to debug. When I debug, it states that it is an unhandled exception and the debugger can not trap the error (or something similar). Interesting enough the same exact error message has been reported on the web for a completely unrelated .NET project. The address is closest to two open DLLs in memory, mscoree.dll...

Hi, In debugging a core dump, I run purify against my code, it says several "Free Memory Read" errors. All the errors are on one delete statement. Usually this means some pointer is deleted by non-owner. But it is really hard to locate the error code. The code structure is like this: class BigClass{ // this is from somebody else code ......

I am wondering if there are some best practices for determining a strategy for using try/catch blocks within an application. My current thoughts are: 1. The code the initiates any high-level user tasks should always be included in a try/catch block that actually handles any exceptions that occur (log the exception, display a message box, etc.). 2. Low-level operations that are used to carry out the high level tasks

Hi all, I really needed to get the icons associated with each file that I want to show in a listview. I used the follow modified code sniplets found on the internet. I have left in commented code for anyone else who may be looking to do the same.

So, I have my little .Net 2.0 C# utilities out in the wild and occasionally they have bugs(!). Often the bugs are easy to troubleshoot remotely but occasionally I would like to write detailed trace info to a simple text file that I could use to further track down the bugs. Additionally, somewhat related, it would be useful to be able to get the line number where an exception was thrown, which is slightly different than a debug log, but...

I plan to implement an exception logging feature in an ASP.NET Web application that writes encountered exceptions to disk. The exception data will be stored as XML. I am planning on having each exception written to its own XML file. I plan to NOT append exceptions to a single XML file because I don't want for the exception logging component to have to deal with contention for access to the file. This is possible when, for example,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
