Jim,

The last you can do is not multipost. Crossposting is no problem in these
newsgroups. Than somebody else active in a newsgroups is not making a
complete answer, when you have it already somewhere else.

The change exist that you have dropped this in a lot of newsgroups, those
who see that will take probably less time to give you a real good answer.

Just my opinion.

I sent the meesage before thinking to add the other ng - as if I really need
to explain this to you.

And, I think I can grasp the concept of spreading the knowledge.....i f it
exists.

2 newsgroups..... .hardly a lot.

Just my opinion.

Hi, Although my application perform nicely in wired network, the performance in wireless network is very bad (I have tested in 802.11b). Would appreciate if anyone could suggest how I can improve the performance in the wireless network. Any one has tried running application in 802.11b vs 802.11g? I am developing it using vb.net, ado.net and SQL server for database Thanks Al

Hi all, I am about to distribute an A97-runtime app. which will be used on a LAN by approx. 30 users. The network is pretty good, but there are a few managers who have wireless laptops... Of course they also want to access the db. I am a bit afraid of possible corruption due to the wireless connections. ==> Do I have to be afraid indeed? If so, what is the best way to deal with this? Should I trace the wireless connections...

I am following Arno's "Wireless connections, trace them in a LAN?" with interest. Most posters are cautioning against using Access in such an environment. What about the use of Access as a front end via a wireless connection against a different back end such as SQL Server or Oracle? I wouldn't think it would be a problem... -- Tim http://www.ucs.mun.ca/~tmarshal/ ^o<

Hello, I am working on an Acc2003 app for my company. In the interest of reducing chances of corruption due to unstable network connectivity, I would like to either prevent users from running it through a wireless connection, or limit their use to read-only. I have absolutely no idea if this is possible, and if so, how. Is there any way from within Access to get the list of routers they are connecting through? Ideally, I'd like to keep...

Hello, I am new to this community and I apologize if I am posting this message under the wrong group. I am interested in writing a C# application that can be used to detect unauthorized wireless access points in my company's network. The basics behind the application is to run a scan on a range of IP addresses, trying to find all access points, and report the access points to a file/report/etc. On my first attempt, I created a small...

Hello all.. I have a strange issue. I am trying to do an opendir via a UNC path, from my windows server to another windows machine. As long as my remote machine is on a physically wired connection, it works great. However, if my remote machine is on a wireless network, I get the following error: Warning: opendir(\\10.51.50.79\plc$): failed to open dir: Invalid

I just acquired a pro bono nonprofit client who has various problems with Access that they want me to address. In our initial discussion, they mentioned that their network is a LInksys wireless network, connecting 5 PCs in a small access. Of course, my ears perked up at the mention of Access and wireless network in the same sentence. I have always read that Access is subject to corruption over anything but the most robust LAN. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
