Creating shortcuts when deploying a project, problems.

Hi,
I want to create an option for creating shortcuts to my application
on the users desktop and Start menu in the setup. In my deployment
project i have created the necessary checkboxes, and tried to set
Conditions on the folders "User's desktop" and "User's Program Menu",
but the conditions doesnt seem to affect shortcuts, only physical
files...
Have anyone else run into these kinds of problems, or am i just
missing something obvious here? I have set the conditions on the
folders to "CHECKBOXA1 =1", but still no luck. When applying the same
condition to, for example, a physical textfile in the Application
folder it works just fine.

Hi,

Lame question - is it possible to set conditions on the shortcuts
themselves? I definitely remember it were not the folders I used the
conditions for.

I have an issue that I've been encountering in an ASP application I'm working on. Most of the application is written in ASP, but there is one page written in ASP.NET. The ASP.NET page needs to have access to the ASP Session data to run correctly. In order to achieve this I create my own HTTP request for a certain ASP page with the name of Session variable that I want is stored in the query string of the request. The requested ASP page...

We have a .NET dll that we are deploying to our customers using a deployment project in VS .NET 2003. There is a lot of information about creating publisher policies on the web, but we have not been successful in creating one. Here's what the ultimate goal is: When the DLL is deployed to a customer's system, every application using this dll must point to the new version. This has to be an automated process using the deployment project....

Hi all! How can I add "internet shortcuts" in the Start/User's Program Menu while deploying a VB.net setup project? When I try to "create new shortcut", Visual Studio warning me: "You cannot use an internet address here. Enter a path that points to a location on your computer or on the network". I know that "link" files in Windows have .url extension. So these are simply... files. But I can't add them to my setup project :-( Any idea?

VS 2005 Converted Header causing error when publishing After converting from Visual Studio 2003 to 2005, I have had several issues with a header that is used throughout the project. The conversion automatically created an abstract base class for the header in the Migrated folder of the App_Code directory. One of the major problems this caused was regarding the fact that I pass the header to a standard error handling class to process the...

Microsoft blows my mind sometimes, what the hell were they thinking? Oh, wait they weren't, that's right. Anyway, I've got a Setup and Deployment added to my project, and it does everything I want it to, with 1 exception. I have created the infamous fonts folder in order for it to install fonts, but it's only putting shortcuts to them in the fonts folder under the windows directory. Why is this? With only shortcuts to them, I can not use...

I've been trying to clean up the installer I created using vb 2005 as best as possible to finalize a project I am working on. I have my installer deploying a .pdf file in the application folder. I want the installer to create a shortcut to that .pdf file in the start menu. I do this by right clicking on the .pdf file that I have included on the setup project in the application folder of the files system editor and making a shortcut. After that I...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
