Hi all, I am a C++ and Java developer with over 3 years of industry
experience. I've written low level C++ code, in addition to web
clients that use web services. I've just recently installed the
Visual Studio .net Professional trial version 2003. I have been
reading up various documents that discuss - "What is Microsoft .Net"
and have found some enlightening information.
I'm trying to write a paper on security and software...

IBM Message Service Client for .NET (informally known as XMS) has
recently started an open Beta programme.
XMS is a non-Java implementation of the Java Message Service (JMS) API,
currently implemented to work with the IBM WebSphere messaging
portfolio. Specifically, it is a fully managed .NET API that can be
used by applications to send and receive JMS messages via IBM WebSphere
Business Integration Brokers over Real-time Transport or...

Hello,
I'm new to Web Services.
I'm trying to develop a Web Service that retrieves some data out of a
database and sends them to the client as a DataSet when a method is invoked.
My question is: Is it possible to run another method on the Web Service
automatically to refresh the data? That means the Web Service should interact
as a Windows Service after a certain amount of time it should retrieve the
data and stores them locally, and...

Hi All!
I have a ASP.NET 2.0 site that works on the Windows 2000 Server. However,
when I tried to view this site on my local Windows XP machine, I get "Server
Unavailable". If I switch the Windows XP IIS back to ASP.NET 1.1 then I get
the Configuration Error (which is understandable because I'm trying to run
an ASP.NET 2 site with 1.1 framework).
I can however view other ASP.NET 1.1 sites on my local Windows XP machine.
It's only the...

Hi,
I have a client request to build an asp.net application. This application
shall be installed on a machine running Windows NT 4.0 SP 6a. As far as I
found out framework 2.0 may not installed on any NT versions. But I hope I
can at least use ASP.NET 2.0 in combination with Framework 1.1 and Visual
Studio 2003.
This should work but.
- I do not want to convert my older projects (that are still productive) to
ASP.NET 2.0

· When was .NET announced?
Bill Gates delivered a keynote at Forum 2000, held June 22, 2000,
outlining the .NET 'vision'. The July 2000 PDC had a number of sessions
on .NET technology, and delegates were given CDs containing a
pre-release version of the .NET framework/SDK and Visual Studio.NET.
· When was the first version of .NET released?
The final version of the 1.0 SDK and runtime was made publicly
available around 6pm PST on...

· What is view state and use of it?
The current property settings of an ASP.NET page and those of any
ASP.NET server controls contained within the page. ASP.NET can detect
when a form is requested for the first time versus when the form is
posted (sent to the server), which allows you to program accordingly.
· What are user controls and custom controls?
Custom controls:
A control authored by a user or a third-party software vendor that...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
