Hi, I have an HTML page that displays some content, and a part of that content is HTML changed into regular text. The encoding of the page is UTF-8. Here's the code that makes the change (the HTML in self.contents is UTF-8 encoded): file = cStringIO.StringIO()

Hello All, Recently I had posted a message to forum requesting assistance to resolve a security issueI was facing in .NET Framework 1.1, the error being "Because of Security Restrictions, the ObjRef cannot be accessed". The solution was in the server's app.config file where I had to set the 'typeFilterLevel' to 'Full' for both the SOAP as well as the Binary formatters. My remoting environment was set for Server activated components (so...

I have spent 1/2 hour looking for a Javascript formatter with no luck. I am using a tool that produces Javascript statements in one long string and it's hard to read. Any recommendations? I see a .NET tool at codeproject but that site is down.

Hello there I need to serialize/deserialize some pretty simple data structures (no inheritance, few has relationships, ~20 classes) in three formats. One is XML (structure is not important as long as it's human-readable and modifiable), and two are proprietary binary formats. For XML I'll use the SoapFormatter, no sweat. For the two other formats I would like to implement my own formatters. Problem is the docs on implementing your own...

When it comes to ViewState in ASP.NET, I have a mixed feeling of both love and hate. For love, it simplifies many aspects of common tasks; for hate, it bloats web pages with large amount of cryptic (though not really :-)) text. I find that LOS formatter is not as effecient as what Microsoft claims. It takes up much of CPU time. For example, it is very obvious in CPU utilization (up to 50% for one page) when serializing/deseriailzing a...

I was earlier trying to persist a windows forms control to disk using the binary formatter class. I have devised a workaround, however I have Classes added in as references to my project which still won't serialize properly. I have tested the referenced classes separately as individual projects and added <Serializable(()> Attribute tags to all class definition etc, and all seems well.

Hi there We've found a fantastic solution for generating PDF documents with fairly complex XHTML and CSS. It does a great job (on all our tests so far...) It's called "Prince" ( http://www.princexml.com/overview/ ) and the only thing holding me back is the server license fee - US $3,800. Has anyone used Prince? How do you like it? Worth the money spent?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
