Simple Deployment project Question

I have a pretty simple project (C++) which I'm trying to deploy using a
VS.NET deployment project. The problem I'm having is that when the
deployment project is executing, it finds a previous version of my
application and tells me to go to Add and Remove programs from the Control
Panel to remove the previous version. This would be almost acceptable if
there really was a previous version but, there isn't. My real question is -
is it possible to set some property on the deployment project to allow it to
install even if an existing version is already on the machine?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Hi All, I'm putting together my first web deployment project using VS2003 and have a few questions someone might be able to help on. First, I need to modify the web.config file based on entries made during the installation from one of the TextBoxes dialogs. Is this possible? If so, can someone point me in the direction of some doc or samples for this? Second, is it possible to return errors from a custom action back to the installer...

I have VS 2002, Windows XP, Access XP(2000 format). He is my problem....

I have created a Setup and Deployment project in Visual Studio.NET 2003. After my installation has completed running I'd like to launch the EXE that I just installed. I've found how to launch the EXE in the Custom Actions area of the Setup and Deployment project. Unfortunately when the EXE is launched it causes the setup program to stay open until the EXE has been exited. Anyone have any ideas how to launch the EXE and get the setup...

Greetings, Here's a question about deploying my C# application. My program includes a large library of data files. As far as I can tell, data files can only be added to a deployment project one at a time. Is there a way to add a whole folder, with all its contents and subfolders, to a deployment project such that it will be installed into a particular folder on the target machine, preserving all the structure?

I want to deploy a service with a windows app and the setup program must conform to the Vista certification requirements. Can that be done with the standard .net setup project? Assuming cost is an issue, what else is available?

I used to use the Web Deployment Project with my VS2005 projects. Now I've fully upgraded to VS2008. Do I have to download a new version of the Web Deployment Project? If so where can I find it? If not, how do I have to change my deployment strategy? Thanks!

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
