Hello,
I have 2 separate web sites on 2 different boxes
www.xyz.com on box 1
www2.xyz.com on box 2
Users log into box 1 via regular ASP/Database authentication, and I keep a
session variable to mark authenticated users.

I am trying to use Forms Authentication for a web page with cookies and a
session state. I'm getting a little confused about how to use both and how
the timeouts work. My goal is to have a web page that uses forms
authentication with login info stored in a database, but also to use some
session info during the course of the application. It used to be that when
my cookie expired, the next time a hit anything on the web page I would...

I want to prevent users from voting more than 1 time in a simple poll.
I tried:
Session.Timeout = 40
Dim objCookie As HttpCookie
objCookie = New HttpCookie("before", "voted")
If Session("before") = "" And Request.Cookies("before") Is Nothing Then
Session("before") = "voted: true"

Hi all,
I have a php/mysql website where people can upload their own graphics for
the buttons and background of pages on the website.
This used to run on one server, but I have now been asked to set it up on
multiple servers.
The problem is that when someone uploads a file, how do I distribute it to
all of the servers? Should I use php to send it to all of the servers once

In ASP.NET 1.1 I could detected expired form authentication tickets (which
closely coincide with my expired session) by checking for the Authentication
Cookie when the login screen loads. If the cookie exists, then decrypt the
forms auth. ticket and check to see if it is expired. If so display a
message to the user letting them know why they are back on the login screen.
The code I used was something like this:
Dim cookie as HttpCookie...

I came across this weird problem:
1. Session state stops working after the app is deployed to another server
because
IE does not accept cookies.
2. It works if cookieless="true" in the web.config
3. Yes, I tried IE - Tools - Privacy - Accept All Cookies and also
Override automatic cookie handling, Always allow session cookes

This is an issue I brought up probably a year or so ago, got some advice,
then was sidetracked on the project until now. So, here I am again. ;o)
The situation is that we have an older chunk of code I've been tasked to
maintain 'as-is'. It's a CMS we wrote in ASP.net 1.1 about 4 years ago.
It works.
But we have one major issue and that's when people log in, maybe 5% of the
time, the end up with someone elses credentials. There's...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
