I think the .NET framework is great!
It's nice, clean and logical; in contradiction to the old Microsoft.
It only saddens me that the new Microsoft still doesn't under stand there own rules when it comes to file paths.
A lot of Microsoft installers for example, and also installers of other companies, do not work because they handle paths in the following manner:

I am trying to <include> some text into an XML documentation topic, but
that text is stored in a file that is in a different directory than the
"current" XML file. Using a relative path does not appear to work, because
the base being used is the Common7\IDE directory, not my original source
directory.
Here is the situation:
MyApp directory contains the file Form1.cs, Form1.xml, and Generic.xml.
There is also a subdirectory called...

I just reinstalled .NET 2003 (after repeated attempts to get ASP.NET
Web Applications to work). I first did a complete uninstall of .NET
2003, .NET Framework 1.1, and IIS. I also completely deleted
c:\inetpub\wwwroot and rebooted before reinstalling.
I created a new virtual directory from within IIS (e.g. MyWebTest).
Then I tried to create a new Visual C# ASP.NET Web Application
pointing to the location http://localhost/MyWebTest. I get...

I am trying to build a web application that will contain
links to files on a users local computer. I am assuming
that the files will be in a known location and can display
in a browser window.
I have my ASP.NET application building links along the
lines of

Does the xsd.exe command line support paths with spaces?
For example the xsd.exe /o: option specifies the output file name. How can I
specify an output file path that has a space?
I'v tried googling up and down and cannot find an answer.

I've installed several different versions of Python across several
different versions of MS Windows, and not a single time was the Python
directory or the Scripts subdirectory added to the PATH environment
variable. Every time, I've had to go through and add this by hand, to
have something resembling a usable Python installation. No such
problems on Linux, whether it be Mandrake/Mandriva, Fedora Core, or
Kubuntu. So why is the Windows...

Many times when writing VBA code, we find the need to work with Files in one form or another. Whatever the process may be, we need to be sure that a File is present in a specified location. One Method to guarantee that a File does in fact exist, is to pass the Absolute Path to the File to a Function which will investigate the Path and return a Boolean Value (True/False) indicating whether or not the File exists. The following code segments will...

My webpage of discussion contains a javascript powered image gallery
of small thumbnail images that when moused-over, display a larger

changes according to the current moused-over thumbnail image. All
functions fine...except...for the initial value for the alt_jmg

The absence of any exception from

the web is a virtual address space, so it doesn't necessarily mean that

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
