Hi there
I am exposing a c# assembly as a COM component (regasm /codebase) and
calling it from classic asp. When I try to call the
ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings function in the c# assembly, it does
not return the values from my web.config.
The web.config is located in the root of the web application. The
classic asp page that calls the COM exposed c# assembly is located in a
subfolder called message. Can anyone help me out here?

Hi,
I am running into a problem of mixing UICulture = auto and allowing users to
select culture using a dropdown list.
I am detecting a querystring, "setlang", and when found, setting the
CurrentUICulture to what's specified in the querystring. Since I want to
allow UICulture auto detecting, I add UICulture = "auto" to page directive on
each page.

Hello all,
We have a bit of a problem with application settings and user control. In
short, we have developed a user control that should, as it happenes, get a
value stored in application settings of its host application. The app.config
of the host application looks like this:
<appSettings>
<add key="SQLConnectionString" value="some value" />
</appSettings>

Winforms application in VS2005 using VB.
Have some code that sets a user setting using the my.settings code
For instance My.Settings.ThisSetting = "New setting" then My.settings.Save()
to explicitly save it.
After doing this I close the application, look at the application's config
file and see that the ThisSetting is not New Setting but is still the old
setting. When I open the application again, I can see that the old setting
is still...

I developed a Win form with VS.NET 2005 + .NET 2.0 in C#
There are some application settings are "User" scope and stored in
xxx.settings,
I can access them via Settings class and changethem with Settings.Save();
However, if I change and save them then my app will read the change from
the user.config , my question is how to access the original default setting?

Two of the projects in my solution that both need to use a common
user.config file. This is a data application - the executable that is
created with the first project is the primary executable that users will be
working with 99% of the time, the other is a seperate "maintenance"
executable. The connection string is stored via My.Settings (encrypted of
course). The problem is that obviously with 2 different .exe there are 2
seperate...

Hi Gary,
As for the setting you mentioned, it is used to custimze the received data
size limitation of WCF binding(such as NetTcpBinding or HttpBinding).
After you have definite a customized Binding setting, you can apply it to
your WCF service via the "bindingConfiguration" attribute of each <endpoint>
here is a simple WCF service configuration in web.config which demonstrate
this:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
