I have a need to become familiar with SQL Server 2000 for work.
Needless to say I am new to SQL Server any version, but not IT in
general. My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000
Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is
reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported
on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having
succeeded in doing it.
I have tried...

Hi,
I have defined interface for COM components which inludes an argument being
filled with additional error info, if such occurs. If inside I raise COM
Error, I populate that parameter.
In COM environment this architecture works beautifully -- caller application
gets negative HRESULT and error description from IErrorInfo object, and
additional "log" information from that "ref" parameter:
In .Net it just never returns that paramter...

Hello
Some time ago with the help of this group I made an amateurish
database that catalogs all of our shop drawings. Works really well ( I
think) but management, in its infinite wisdom, wants a "professional"
database.
So, they have contracted out a local programmer and his first "beta"
will not run.. He coded the *.mde in Access 2002 (in spite of being
informed that we have A97). Now he wants to run an installer that will
allow us to...

Hi all,
1) I have used VC++.NET 2002 (v7.0) for a while. Recently I just installed
VC++.NET 2003 (v7.1) - I saw the message "Settings were not migrated from
Visual Studio.NET 2002 to Visual Studio,NET 2003" during the installation.
Do I have to do the migration of the "Settings" if I want to use the both
versions of VC++.NET in the Side-by-Side fashion?
2) I ran the "Build" of the example 'Chapter5_Example1' of 'Beginning
DirectX 9' by...

Hey guys, I was trying to add typelib functionality to a VS2003
multithreaded .dll that I'm writing.
I read some instructions on how to do this, so I created a .odl file and
added it to the project. I didn't see an option for adding a .odl file
like there's an option for adding a .cpp file, but I did it anyway, and
I keep getting this error:
c:\MyProjects\MastControllerLibrary\MastController\MastController.odl(33):
error MIDL2025 :...

I've been searching for a solution for over two days, but have found no
solution.
I've installed everything in Studio .Net 2002 except for a development

Last week I wrote a windows app, published it and then installed it on
my local machine. It all worked perfectly. Now today when I try to run
the app from my Start menu I get the error 'Application cannot be
started. Contact the application vendor'. So I have tried to uninstall
and re-install the app, but when I try to uninstall the app nothing
happens.
Can anybody help with this?

I have an app that is built in Access 2002 and packaged with its runtime. When installing it in a Vista PC/laptop, several dialog boxes pop up that require specific answers for the app to install and work OK under Vista. Is there any way to make this installation more straightforward by pre-empting these dialog boxes and/or answering them automatically so that the User does not have to do it himself and probably get it wrong?
Here is what I...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
