Hello,
I have Visual Studio .NET Beta 2 installed. I want to
upgrade from .NET Framework Beta 2 - which got installed
along with Visual Studio .NET Beta 2 - to .NET Framework
1.1. I tried running the setup of Framework 1.1 directly,
but it throws an error saying that a different version of
the framework already exists and that it needs to be
uninstalled before continuing.

I recently installed the Visual Studio 2005 CTP Beta on my
machine. That went fine, but when I uninstalled it (as my
team later told me we were going to be working with VS2005
Beta 1), it didn't uninstall version 2.0.41115 of the
framework.
Later, I installed VS2005 Beta 1, and it installed version
2.0.40607 of the framework. Now I have both versions on my
PC and this is possibly the cause for VS crashing so often.

Hello!
I just wander if I can configure my Visual Studio (programming in C#)
to compile for Framework 1.1 instead of 2.0 beta 2 that is default.
I have the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 installed.
Thanks in advance.

Due to some bugs in .NET SP1 which we are currently review with MS under
separate cover, I am having to regress the patching levels of several of my
desktops to rebuild and retest several versions of our code. To do this I had
been previously advised to ensure that both versions of the Framework (the
software supports both 1.0 and 1.1) were completely removed from the PC
before starting the installs again from scratch. i.e. to do this as...

If I download the 2005 beta express versions and install them, will the .NET
framework 2.0 (beta) replace the existing 1.1 (non-beta) that's on my
machine? What I mean is will I have two versions side by side - i.e. is the
beta marked as 'this version is not allowed to replace an existing one' but
a non-beta isn't marked with that, is what I'm trying to get at.
And if 1.1 is installed over the top of 1.0, then does it replace it, and if...

Hi all:
I installed DotNet Framework beta 2.0. My web service program stop working
in debug mode under VS 2003. I took all steps that Microsoft help page
suggest, and none of them are working for me. At the end, I took a look at
IIS web configurations app mappings property, and found all aspx, asmx are
using Framework beta 2 DLLs. Not Framework 1.1. As a result, I uninstalled VS
C# express and Framework beta 2. My web service can run...

I have the Service Pack installed, but this program is just plain
buggy. I don't even WANT it, but I couldn't get my ATI drivers to
install unless I had it on the system.
I don't mind if the files just sit there; I just don't want them
RUNNING. Not once have I been able to shut down my computer without
having to suffer a 2 minute wait while "NET FRAMEWORK is not
responding."
I have Windows 2000 Professional and am about to commence...

Hi there,
I'm busy trying to get the .net 3 runtime components installed on a fresh
instal of windows server 2008 beta 3. I've installed the .net 3 framework by
installing the application server role (default settings), but still when i
want to install the expression encoder it keeps on asking for the runtime
components, when i try to install the .net 3 redistributable package it fails
and tells me to use the role management tool, but...

Can the 3.5 version of .NET Framework (currently Beta 2) be installed on
pre-Vista machines? Or is it Vista-only?
And, why doesn't .NET Framework come pre-installed with the operating
system? I think one of the main reasons people will reject such software is
having to install something first. I understand it might need upgrading, but
why do Windows machines come without any .NET Framework (or am I wrong about
this)?
It seems that...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
