I have been given a schema, instances of which I'm required to be able to
consume and generate. I'd like to be able to manipulate these instances as
DataSets internally in my application. The schema defines the following
simpleType:
<xs:simpleType name="cs">
<xs:restriction base="xs:token">
<xs:pattern value="*"/>
</xs:restriction>
</xs:simpleType>

Hi All,
When I delete the last record from my dataset and then WriteXML() to the
file; the Table itself, in the xml file, is removed. I need to prevent the
table structure from being deleted if there are no more records to be
written to the XML file from the Dataset.
Any ideas here,
John.

Hi, I have a datagrid and its source is a dataset. When I change information
on the grid does that automatically gets change in the dataset? If not then
how do I do that? I use the following update statement when the form is
closed to udpate the database but the changes are not there.
oleDbDataAdapter1.Update(dsVehicle, "vehDetail");
Thanks, Alpha

I cannot get my OleDbDataAdapter to update my database
table from my local dataset table. The Knowledge Base
doesn't seem to help - see item 10 below.
I have a Microsoft Access 2000 database which indexes
computer magazine articles for personal reference.
I am developing a Visual Basic.NET program whose sole
purpose is to enter new records into the database. No
updates to existing entries, no deletions, and no display

I'm working on a project in VB.net connecting to a SQL Server 2000 database
that I can't modify
I created a dataset with a schema identical to the DB.
When trying to update the DB from the dataset using the dataAdapter.update
sub, I get an error.
The problem seems to be that one of the fields was named 'desc' which is a
reserved word for SQL.
I've been able to work around this design flaw 'till now but it looks like
the update sub can't...

Hello,
I have 2 tables with a relationship set up in the dataset with vb
..net. I add a new record to the parent table then edit an existing child
record to have the new parent ID. However when I do the update the changed
parentid in the child table fails to change. No error is given its just that
the change is not written to the Database.
When I step through the records for the child table the one I would expect
to be changed has a row...

Hi,
I'm really stuck with this one. I have a dataset with two tables. One table
is company data, and the other is contacts. I populate these by using a SP in
SQL Server which returns the two tables in one call. I'm using Microsoft
EnterpriseLibrary for Data to get the data from SP. It works fine and I get
two tables in the dataset, "Table1" and "Table2".
I then have an XML-file, which will serve as a template to generate the
XML-schema,...

Some of you may have seen my earlier thread “PasswordHash NULL problem”. I’ve started a new thread because investigation has shown that the problem is actually quite different than I previously stated. Also please note that this is unrelated to another of my previous threads, “dataAdapter.Update problem”, which incidentally has been resolved.
I’m learning SQL. I’m accessing database SQL2008 AdventureWorks, table Person.Contact, which has a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
