Setup Error - Failed to load resources from resource file

I have an existing application that has been installed and running for several months. I recently made a minor change to this application. When the application is installed on the user machine and then run, I get the following error:

Setup Error
Failed to load resources from resource file.
Please check your setup.

The application was installed on a Windows XP SP2 machine.

I have un-installed the .NET Framework 1.1 and latest hot-fix and re-installed both. Still have the same error. The program run fine when installed on the development machine.

I retain the setup programs for all previous versions of the program. If I un-install the new 1.4.6 version and reinstall the previous version 1.4.5. The program runs with no error.

Since the creation of version 1.4.5 I have installed and un-installed Visual Studio 2005 Beta. I have repaired my Visual Studio .NET 2003 installation since the un-install of 2005.

I am not using any localization functionality.

Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what might be causing this problem?

Hi, I have written an application in VB.Net which runs well on my development PC. However on a few clients machines, at apparently random intervals, they get the above message and the programme crashes out. The error isn't occurring during set-up, but during use of the programme. I am having trouble trapping for this as I don't know what it means and therefore what might be causing it. As far as I know, I am not using any resource files...

Hi, I have a .NET Windows Forms application, written in VB.NET and C#. I am opening a URL from the application using Process.Start(). The URL points to a java servlet running on apache-tomcat. For some users the application shows an error dialog with following information. Another very interesting observation is that it's sending a lot of requests to the servlet within no time. Please note that this is not happening for all users.

Hi, I try to develop a localized Asp.Net 1.1 application. I have added two resource files to my app, which are called 'Labels.resx' and 'Labels.de.resx'. If I compile the app, I see a 'de' subfolder in my 'bin' folder and the folder contains the resource dll. Accessing the german strings does not work. After a lot of debugging I managed to get fuslogvw.exe to work and got a result like this:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
