TraceListener autoflush performance problems

I was having some performance problems with a web service that is being
called many times asynchronously.

I was using a trace listener defined in the web.config and had
autoflush=true.

When I set it to false, the problems seemed to go away.

I wonder about the performance of tracing to a text file....

Dear community, having written a working example for using Semphores on a windows client, I created a little "server-application" that does the following: A Server continously "listens/tails" a command-file for new commands. If a new commands arrives a split of the workload to threads is under- taken that "control themselves" via Semaphore and are joined finally. It works.

Ugh. I obviously don't understand the correct way to use this thing! I have several #if(DEBUG) code blocks to write to a file ErrorLog.txt to troubleshoot why and what exceptions are being encountered. So in my class this is defined: static FileStream traceLog = new FileStream("ErrorLog.txt", FileMode.OpenOrCreate, FileAccess.Write); static TextWriterTraceListener traceListener = new

i have a problem with TraceListener. when i close the FileStream, i will have the error: "Cannot access a closed file" but, if i remarks the statement => no closing the FileStream, i will have another error: "The process cannot access the file "C:\MyAppsTraceLog.log" because it is being used by another process." Remind that it's ok when i click the button once. the problem arises when

Hi, I'm developing an test form to test several classes i've build. Within those classes i've wrote a lot of trace messages in verbose mode. Within my test form i've created a TextBoxTraceListener. The thing is that even if i use trace.autoflush = true, or even when i explicitly call the trace.flush method, in some cases the messages are not send to the trace listener. The same thing happens when i use a TextwriterTraceListner, the same...

Hello A class that composes the output of shop-related data gets some info from the main shop class. Now I wonder whether it is faster to store the info in the output class or get it from the main class whenever it is needed: class shop_main { var $prices = null; function &get_prices() {

I want to send trace messages to a textbox in my winforms application using C# 2.0. I have a custom TraceListener class (see below) that is very basic, but I'v got an error implementing it that I don't understand. To instantiate my class I have: TextboxTraceListener TextBoxTracer = new TextboxTraceListener(txtLog); Visual Studio underlines txtLog in blue and says: "Error 2 A field initializer cannot reference the nonstatic field,...

I'm having the darndest problem and I can't seem to recreate it anywhere, and I'm looking for someone with a little insight. I've created a custom EmailTraceListener which implements the TraceListener abstract class. The EmailTraceListener stores all of the messages in a StringBuilder internally and then writes the StringBuilder.ToString() to an email as a text message. Here's the problem I'm encountering. I load up several...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
