post to another page

nik
I have a postback on an aspx-page. In this postback I perform a
redirect. The page is quite heavy, so instead of performing a postback
I perform a post to another empty page, which then can do the
calculations necessary to perform the redirect. The post to another
page is done by changing the action property of the form clientside.
First of all: This doesn't seem like a nice solution. A bit of a hack.
Is there a better way to perform a post to another page from an aspx.
Secondly: When I hit the empty page I get an exception. I suppose it is
due to a mismatch in the viewstate information:
An uncaught exception occurred:Unable to validate data. Stacktrace:
at System.Web.Conf iguration.Machi neKey.GetDecode dData(Byte[] buf,
Byte[] modifier, Int32 start, Int32 length, Int32& dataLength)
at System.Web.UI.L osFormatter.Des erialize(String input)

Any idea how I can solve this problem?

Another strange thing is that this exception never shows up in the
browser. It is only caught in the Global.asax method
Application_Err or(...). Why is that??

I need to redirect to another web page, but that redirect will include the submission of form data. So, unlike ServerXMLHTTP which stays on the originating web page, I need the script to redirect to the page that I'm submitting the POST data to (without pressing a submit button). Any suggestions? Thanks, Victor

When we submit the form data to another page, we usually do the following: <form action="display.aspx" method="post"> will submit the form data and open display.asp in the current browser <form action="display.aspx" method="post" target="_blank"> will submit the form data and open display.asp in a new browser

Hello, From my limited experience with ASP.NET (couple of weeks so far, much time wasted with stupid book), you can only have one form per page. If so, how do you handle the scenario where you want two forms (from the user's point of view) on a page, one form that uses POST and one that uses GET? For example, suppose your site has a members' log-in form at the top of every page. This would normally use POST as you don't want the...

I am use to programming in php and the way session and post vars are past from fields on one page through to the post page automatically where I can get to their values easily to write to a database or continue to process on to the next page. I am trying to create ASPX code which will allow me to redirect a user to another site with POST data. I figure that the best way to do this is with JavaScript to the client. Here's what I'm doing: I have a JavaScript function that looks like this: function DoPostRedir() { document.MainFrm.method = "POST"; document.MainFrm.action = "http://XXX.YYY.com/Help/";

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
