We have a strange error here.
We have an application that is built in VC++ 6.0 and uses a C library built
using the same. Now, we have migrated to .Net and have used the same source
code to be built using the new compiler.
What happens now is, that any call that we make to the C library(also built
in .Net Env now) from the VC++ Application(built in .Net now), falls prey to
a runtime exception and gets into our try catch block.

Hi,
I have a C++ code. I tried to open and run in in VC++.Net
and it gave me an error: fatal error C1083: Cannot open
include file: 'getopt.h': No such file or directory
Somehow it did not find the standard C++ library. And the
question is what do I need to do in order to run the C++
code in VC++.Net and get it working or can I do it at all.
What should I do with the not found getopt.h library?

I have a quite severe problem. I am trying to compile a C++ library
initially written for VC++ 6. To make the library available for .NET
languages I want to compile the library as managed C++ library. As the
library is utilizing DirectX 9 it bases on COM. This causes me quite some
troubles as I get compile errors caused by the include files included
through the DirectX 9 header file.
The errors occur in unknwn.h, objbase.h and ObjIdl.h.

I wonder if the transistion from the project written in VC++ 6.0 to VC++ .NET
requires a lot of code changes (if any) if I compile the project in native
code (or unmanaged code) without using the CLR in VC++ .NET.

I'm trying to upgrade a large project from VS 6.0 to VS 2005.
After fixing a lot of things that changed (mostly sloppy coding in the
original project that VS2005 didn't allow), I got the release version to

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
