Hi, I've written a COM addin for Word using VB.NET, but how do you debug it? I made Word the application to start for debugging, but it does not stop at any of the breakpoints. Thanks. Jaime

Hi, I created a COM AddIn for Word that performs the functions that it needs to, but I needed to add the ability for the toolbar created by the COM AddIn to remember it's last position and whether it was docked or not. I added the following code to my "OnConnection" function but it fails with an error, "Run-time exception thrown : System.IO.IOException - Bad file name or number." With applicationObject.CommandBars("SampleToolbar")

I have built a new Word Addin to add a Commandbar at the bottom of word, with buttons on it. I followed all the steps from kb articles and other resources, and told it when debugging to open up the WINWORD.exe, but when I run the com in debug mode, the Word 2003 splash screen opens up, then closes with no exceptions being thrown. If I run in debug mode again I get the following error message: "Word experienced a serious error the last time...

I have to create a small addin which works on Powerpoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel on Office 2000, XP, and 2003. This addin consists in adding 2 new Buttons in the "File" Menu of office. This is properly done, but the events which should be triggered with the button.click method are not triggered in Word. I don't understand because it properly works in the 3 others host applications. If someone has an issue, I would be most grateful. Thanks...

I have a toolbar addin written in VC++. I have registered that toolbar with MS Word. I have an icon in the toolbar which needs a change of status (on/off, like Show/Hide icon in Word) whenever a document gets opened. So, I need to capture the Word document Open event in toolbar code to change the status of the icon. Is this possible first, if so any pointers to do this will be helpful. Thanks, AT

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
