Getting Username/Domain

I have serveral items I would to find out how to do:

1) How to get the username of the person currently logged onto a workstation;

2) How to get the username of who is logged onto a different workstation;

3) The domain the machine is in;

4) The names of the machines currently active within that domain.

Any help would be great! Many thanks.

You are asking administrator and user things.
1) How to get the username of the person currently logged onto a
workstation;
Environment.use rname
2) How to get the username of who is logged onto a different workstation;
depends on your network system
3) The domain the machine is in;
environment.use rnsdomain
or
environment.use rdomain

4) The names of the machines currently active within that domain.

depends on your network system

I hope this helps,

Hi! May be anybody knows... I want to open word file (or Excel) from IIS server (URL) without getting security window for input Username and password. I know Username, Password and Domain. I'm trying to open with: http://domain%5cUsername:password@URL When my computer is registred in this domain - no problem. But if my computer is not from this domain I always get window for input Username, Password and Domain.

I have an application where the client wants AD integration. The application requires that the user accounts reside in the app's database. The application is a (.NET) webservices based app where the desktop client polls a webservice to return info to the user. The client wants to only manage accounts via the AD. So if they create a new AD user then the app should automatically create a user in the app database. This is not such a problem...

Hello all: I have yet another question to ask the gurus of C#. I am trying to get a list of all the connected computers on our domain. The only way I know how is by going to the command prompt and typing net view. Is there a way to use this list in a program? Is there a better way to accomplish this task? Thanks,

Hi Any ideas on this... having moved the web app to another server, and setup all the WebApp data (disable anonymous access etc), locally my site still asks me for a Username/Password, even though I've got authentication="Windows" in web.config. On another machine on the network, I don't get the Login box, but I just get a 401.2 error (you are not authorised to view this page).

Using VB.Net, I would like to retrieve the currently logged in user's DN from Active Directory. Alternatively, if, using WindowsIdentity, or something similar, I would like to get the user's full name that is found on the Workstation Locked screen between the ( )'s. Does anyone know how to do that? The only constraint: no use of ActiveDS.dll permitted by the design. Many thanks! Derek

I'm having some strange problems with a VB.NET application that I support. The application currently uses SystemInformation.UserName() and SystemInformation.UserDomainName() to determine who is logged in, and what network domain they are logged into. And for our environment here (logged into a domain), it seems to work just fine.

I am trying to spawn a process (say an exe file) with different user crendentials than that of the current user. 1) Called LogonUserEx() to logon the user and recieve a handle to the token that represents the logged-on user. 2) Called ImpersonateLoggedOnUSer() to let the calling thread impersonate the security context of logged on user. 3) Used CreateEnvironmentBlock() to get lpEnv

I'm developing my web site and running it on my local machne during development. In my php.ini file I've set the SMTP to point to the smtp server out on the actual domain that will eventually host the site and set the sendmail_from to be one of my email accounts, already set up, on that domain. When I invoke mail() from my PHP code I receive an error message: SMTP server response: 553 Sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
