This happens a lot to my databases. I store them at the root of my
developing files, i.e. c:\My Projects\Proj1\database.mdb. Randomly, the
security settings on this database will drop to the basic secutiry, myself
and SYSTEM. I need IUSR on it so I can access it through my ASP pages... I
get errors like this:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
The Microsoft Jet database engine
cannot open the file '(unknown)'. It...

Hi
I have a Visual Basic application that uses ADO to access an Oracle
database. I have the latest 9.x ODBC drivers installed, and SQL*Plus
tells me I'm looking at Oracle 8i release 8.1.7.4.1 through an Oracle
client version 9.2.0.1.0. I'm assuming that these should be
compatible...
The application has, until now, been running on the MS ODBC drivers
for Oracle, but we'd like to get away from using LONGs, and use the

I am using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 driver to link three relatively small MySQL
tables to a Microsoft Access 2003 database. I am finding that the data from
the MySQL tables takes a hell of a long time to load making any kind linkage
with my Access data virtually useless.
I have the MySQL driver setup in as a USER DSN. The MySQL data is sitting
out on a server and the Access database is running locally. The network
connection is very...

PostgreSQL
I am using Microsoft Visual FoxPro to connect VIA ODBC using both
a DSN connection and a DSNLess Connection. The DSNLess connection is
Waaaayyyyy... slower than the DSN connection and I am having a problem
trying to figure out what ODBC settings affect performance this much.
using DSN i can pull 4 fields x 953 rows in .266 seconds :)
however using a DSNLess connection the same query takes >179 seconds

Maybe a dumb question - I'm new to ODBC. How do I install an Access
..mde file on a user's workstation and create the ODBC connection to
the backend SQL Server database without having to go through the
Administrative Tools>Data SOurces (ODBC) menu? IS there a way to do
this with VBA code from my installer disk, or by simply copying a file
onto the user's PC?
Any help is appreciated.

Dear all,
I have a windows application which access to different database type, like
SQL server and MS Access.
I need to deploy my application to my network client. From here no
particular trouble.
What is missing is the possibility to configure automatically during the
deployement, all the ODBC settings for my corresponding database.

We have 4 MS Access Databases with few tables on each DB. There are

and MS Office Prof. 2000 and in ODBC I have same dirvers installed as
other users who are able to access reports without any problem.

Hello all,
I'm having trouble inserting an SQL selection into a new MS Access table. I
get a parameter error on my insert statement when I try this (see below for
code and error msg). I'm not sure if 'insert' or 'update' is the route I
should be taking.
CODE:
#Import Pythond Standard Library Modules
import win32com.client, sys, os, string, copy, glob
import mx.ODBC.Windows as odbc

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
