When an unhandled exception occurrs in my ASP.NET application the app pool
recycles. It seems to me that this just started happening after some patches
have been applied to Windows Server 2003 we are running the app on.
This is how I try to handle this, but the code does not work, i.e. the error
gets logged and the error page displayed but still the app recycles. Any
ideas? Thanks.

Hi
After conducting a several searches, I wasn't sure where to post this
question. So my apologiesbefore hand for double posting this and possibly
posting to the wrong forum(s).
Okay, I have any application that uses the data access application building
block from Microsoft's Enterprise Library (patterns and practices site). I
want to allow the users to select the database connection. To do this, I
thought I could read the...

I am attempting to research an error condition that I am experiencing with
the Config Block in EntLib 1.0. I have an admin web page that I use to
populate some config values. I then have a second web pages that pulls those
values in order to perform some stuff. Works like a charm with and without
encryption.
BUT... everytime the app pool is recycled in IIS 6, the app block throws an
error when attempting to read the config values. The...

I've seen a few other postings that looked similar to this, but most appear
to have died without any working solutions, and lacked any helpful level of
information to see if they might be related. I'm thinking this is an
ASP.Net 2.0 bug, but would like to try to elaborate it further. I'm hoping
to see if someone else may be having the same issue.

Hi,
I am using Microsoft Enterprise Logging Application block. I am using a flat
file listener to log the exceptions. Now the problem I am having is that the
log file is becoming too big. What are the options that I have to handle
this problem.
1) I could run a scheduler to periodically archive the log file, but when
IIS is running I am unable to do that as it gives an exception that the file
is being used by another program.

This has been working perfectly for months. Since we switched from ASP.NET
1.1 to 2.0, we have constant and sporadic issues with updating our
applications.
Touching the web.config works about 40% of the time to cause an AppDomain to
reload and flush all assemblies. Sometimes it works perfectly, but other
times some Assemblies are not reloaded into the AppDomain, even after
multiple web.config file touches. Sometimes multiple versions...

hi,
For some reason one of my sites is throwing an ugly error message when
I deploy it to a remote server.
The error looks like this: "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL
Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data
path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the
computer. The connection will be closed. "

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
