Everywhere in documentation there are recommendations to use threads from
thread pooling for relatively short tasks. As I understand, fetching a page
or multiple pages (sometimes up to 50 but not tipical) from the Internet and
doing some processing on those would be considered to be a big/long task for
a thread from a pool. In our app it is possible to break the task into some
small ones (thread per fetch and processing thereafter or event...

I'm using async delegate calls. I would like to re-enter my initial thread
after the callback. (I'm not using UI controls, so Control.Invoke is not the
solution.) How can I manually implement behavior like Control.Invoke? How
can I re-enter my initial thread? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I already searched Google Groups and found something on this topic, but no

Hi
I get a InvalidOperationException message when I click button2 at this line
of code textBox1.Text = whoIs1.EndLookup( asyncResult );
Should I now be implementing the BackgroundWorker Class now?
Many thanks

Hi guys.
I have two threads: a main thread and a background thread. Lots of stuff
happens in the background thread that means I have to update several (lots)
of controls on a form.
It is quite tiresome to have to write code to call MyControl.Invoke for each
control on the form, along with the delegates that are required for each.
Is there a better way to do this? What I mean is, if I could marshal the

I have a thread that has a delegate function which will be called when
another process exits. This thread went to sleep, the process exits and is
supposed to call the delegate, but it did not happen. When the thread wake
up, the function is not called either.
The question is, will a thread ignore all the callback when it is sleeping?

Hello All,
Using the following delegate, and attempting to update the UI. There is no
clear examples on how to pass multiple parameters though to the dispatcher.
I keep receiving an exception (shown below). The code works if you invoke a
method that only has one parameter, however it should work with multiple
parameters. Maybe I am missing something simple.

ok This is my main. Pretty much it goes through each category and
starts up 4 worker threads that then ask for groups to gether from. My
problem is that when the thread gets done it keeps the mysql
connections open so I end up with quite a few at the end. Is there a
different way that I should do this?
class Program
{
static string categories = { "emulation" , "audio" ,
"console" , "anime" , "xxx" , "tv" , "pictures" , "video" };

I'm a C# developer and I'm new to Python. I would like to know if the concept of Asynchronous call-backs exists in Python. Basically what I mean is that I dispatch a thread and when the thread completes it invokes a method from the calling thread. Sort event driven concept with threads.
Thanks.

All,
Not sure if this is possible or not - I've created a class which
performs an asynchronous operation and provides notification when the
operation is complete. I'd like the notification to be performed on
the same thread thread that instantiated the class. One way to do this
is to pass an ISynchronizeInvoke into the class and use it to
synchronize the callback. In the constructor of the class, could I
take note of the current thread...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
