Hi everyone,
i have the following problem:
i got a host-gui which hosts a server-object with infinte lifetime. This
server creates 5 agent-objects (also marshal-by-ref) with a limited lifetime
of 10 sec and a RenewOnCallTime of 2 sec.
Unfortunately those agent-object are not disconnected as expected after 10
sec! The lifetime is even set back to 10 sec. all the time...
Furthermore the InitializeLifetimeService method is evidently not...

Hi,
At the moment I am trying to develop an application that uses another app
over .net remoting and having some problems with it (ok, that is ofcourse
why I am here), hope somebody can shine a light on the following:
I have been given a sample winforms app, which works without problem, I can
connect, send queries and become response from the other application.
When I try to implement this in webforms, this unfortunately does not...

Our product is build using the .NET framework 1.1.
We have WinForm application that communicates a server via Remoting (tcp
channel).
We have two ways communication:
From application to server using a singleton remoting connection (using
Activator)
From server to application using delegate (using delegate wrapper – a simple

When I get a list of drives using the Directory.GetLogicalDrives(), it gives
me all drives including disconnected network drives. When I attempt to use
Directory.GetDirectories() on a disconnected drive, the GetDirectories Method
stops responding. I also tried to use properties such as
DirectoryInfo.Attributes but I have the same problem. How do I detect if one
of the logical drives in my list is a disconnected network drive? I want to...

A client application connects to a TCP-remoted object from a service on
localhost for method invocations and events. It works as advertised. But...
if the network cable (LAN) gets disconnected, the event subscriptions to the
localhost server are lost because "The connection was forcibly closed...". If
the remoting proxy had also gone away, the client would detect it and begin
trying to re-establish the connection. But it doesn't; the...

Hi
I have a problem with the .Net-Securty-Functions.
I've got a client and a server.
When I try to register a channel at the server with this line:
ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(chan, false);
I get the following error - doesn't matter if I try it local from my machine
or from a remote machine.
(After the Errormessage is more text ;))

OK, after lots of faffing I have finally gotten remoting working - basically
I have a windows service (the "server") and a forms app (the "client").
The forms app can call methods in the server, and I can get events fired on
the server to be picked up and acted on in the client app, so all is well. I
can even get two client apps on different machines talking to the same
server instance and the events pop up on both.
This is all good...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
