reset passwords app only works if user has full control of object

I have written an application in vb.net to reset user passwords in active
directory. If I run the application as a user with full contol of the AD
object I can reset the password.
If I run the application as a user with just reset password permission on
the account I cannot reset the password and get an error about access denied.
At the same time I can run Active Directory Users and Computers and reset
the account password.

Any thoughts.

I have a user control that contains three variables which are accessed through public properties. They are declared immediately below the "Web Form Designer Generated Code" section. Every time an event is fired by one of the controls contained in the User Control, these variable are reset. Here is my current code (I have a little more to add later, right now I am just concerned about the variables getting reset): Public Class DatePicker2...

Hi All... I'm been fighting this problem for a few days now, and it seems like it should be simple. But the solution has eluded me so far... I need to flag a record when it is updated or when it is a new insert. Then I SELECT for the changed records and do something not related to Postgres. Easy enough, I created a trigger procedure and fired it on INSERT OR UPDATE and modify NEW to set the flag field to true.

Hi: I have created a secured database for a client. For various reasons, I don't want the client to have full persmissions for the database; they aren't in the admins group. I have instead tried to create a second group, called "localAdmin," for the admin-type person at the client. I want this group to be able to do some basic admin-type stuff, including adding new users and clearing passwords if users forget theirs. I can't seem to...

Hi, I have written a tool wich de/encrypts a few of my forum and bloggin-Passwords. My question is how secure it is. The following describes how I have encrypted my passwords. When I log in, the Login-Password is changed into a md5-Hash and is compared to the login-password in the db. If the passwords are the same the use is logged in (common procedure). Then the clear-text

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
