I have an MDI application with a number of child windows. In each child
window I am catching the Closing event and having the child window decide if
it should set cancel to true. The intent here is to ensure that no child
window can close while it is in a state where user entered information can
be lost. I have just noticed that while the Closing event is caught if I
click the X on the child window, it is not caught if I click the X on...

I have an MDI application which opens a number of child windows, each of
which could have data in a state that needs to be saved. Each child window
catches its Closing event and cancels it if the user wants to save the data,
but when the Application closes this event isn't thrown automatically. I
added a loop to close each child window, but can't seem find how to catch
the child window's cancel of the Closing event, so even if the user...

Hi
I have a routine that uses VBA to open a hidden occurence of Excel,
and do background computations.
However, in the event that the routine terminates abnormally, I have
not been able to find a way of closing this Hidden occurrence. I can
close any foreground instances without any problem, but the same
coding does not work for hidden occurences.

I have the following requirements:
Build a stand-alone C# application that asks the user to click in a cell
in an Excel spreadsheet, and then displays the address of that cell in
the C# application. It seems simple enough, but the problem I'm
encountering is as follows:
In order for the user to select the cell from Excel, they must first
click once on the Excel window to give it focus and then their second
click is what changes the cell...

this code opens the workbook.. either protects or unprotects a sheet..
then saves.. so can write to it..
it unprotects then saves fine.. then writes to it no prob.. it resets
the password again no prob.. but on close of the workbook object.. it
goes into the workbook_beforeclose event within the vba of the file!!
at this point it fails for no apparent reason as this event works
perfectly when closing through excel !!

I'm using late binding (I must) to automate Excel.
My code opens Excel after createing and poulating some sheets. My problem is
that when the user finally decides to close Excel its process is left
running until my application closes.
I have tried setting my Excel.Application object to Nothing.
I have tried to then fore the GC into action using:

For some reason, when I click the X to close my MDI parent form, the action
appears to be re-directed to one of the MDI child forms, and the parent
remains open. I am then unable to close the application.
What should happen, is that the main MDI form should close, taking the child
forms with it. There is code to loop through the child forms, remove the
controls on each of them, and then close the form, but this code should
execute only...

Hi,
We have an application that create an excel object on the very
beginning of the application:
objExcel = New Excel.Application
Then I am passing the excel reference to the one of forms that on the
button click event creates workbook, sheet, fills sheet with data and
gives the control to the user.

I am using Excel Interop to export data from a dataset to an excel-file.
Everything works fine except closing the excel-file.
I have an Application-object and a Workbook-object. I call the Close

My program works fine but after my program is closed, I can still see
Excel running as a process on my pc, this gives troubles when shutting

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
