Web Service Enhancements 2.0 install trashed my VS.NET IDE

After installing this component, all the menus and toolbars in my
VS.NET 2003 IDE are doubled. So along the top of my IDE I have "File,"
"File," "Edit," "Edit," "View," "View," etc. And the choices
within each of these top-level menus are doubled too. Same with all
the toolbar options on the top of the IDE. At first I thought I'd
just live with it, but it really is a pain. I can no longer just type
"Alt-E-F-E" to bring up the Search dialog to search for a string in my
project's code, because now that first "E" is no longer unique so it
doesn't open up the Edit menu. (Now I have to use the mouse, or hit
the enter key after each of those letters to do the same operation.)

Did anyone else experience this? Try installing WSE 2.0 and see! If
so, anything I can do about it? Short of uninstalling and
reinstalling VS.NET?

Thanks,

richforman

Hi, I developped a Windows Service in VB.NET (2005). I need to have it installed two times on 1 machine. When I want to install it a second time, the setup doesn't allow me to install it again in an other directory, but only to repair or remove the other version. I get arround this by simply copying the files of the first installed in a second directory.

Running the code below, I get the error Cannot start service from the command line opr debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the ServerExplorer..... But the text log from my install shows this: Running a transacted installation.

AI am trying to call a third-party web service. this service expects an XML fragment that contains the request plus other parameter. adding the web reference created the syntax below(reference.vb). I changed the data type for the structure that contains the XML data from the default "String" to "xml.xmldocument" to enable easy filling of the data. my client code creates an XML document class, fills the data using standard xml dom...

Hello, I have written a windows service and created an installer for it. The service runs under the system accounts. When started, it launches a GUI. By default, the InteractiveProcess property of the service is not set (this can be checked by right-clicking on the service in the Services window (Admin tools>Services), choosing Properties, LogOn tab). In order to enable my service to launch a GUI at startup, I added the following lines...

I just installed this and just read the 'release notes'. It says under 'known issues', to install after starting VS 2005. I did not, so it says to use the Add In Manager. When I invoke the add-in manager I get a blank window with no indication how to add anthing. I tried running command 'aspnet_regiis /Lv' as instructed in the notes and received 'command not found'. Anyone know what I am doing wrong? This is the first time I have tried...

Hi, I have created a Windows service and have followed Microsoft' instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816169 in order to create a setup project for it so it can be installed on a server. When I click on the setup.exe file, it appears to go through the installation wizard correctly, and generates no warnings or errors. At the end of the process, it tells me that the service has been successfully installed, and there is...

Hi all. I need to consume a web service in .NET which were written in Java. I am able to add them fine as web references in visual studio as well as create the necessary objects. However, the specs of the web service require me to authenticate using the Username Token Profile spec from WS-Security. Any idea on how to do this?? Thanks.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
