I'm reading from a tcpdump pipe. I want to receive one line from the
pipe as soon as its available from tcpdump. Something is buffering the
pipe though, so I am receiving nothing, then multiple lines in a big
batch. I thought this was the inherent buffering of next(), but it
affects readline too.
For example,
tcpdump = os.popen( 'sudo tcpdump', 'r')
both
while True: print tcpdump.next(),

Gents/Ladies, I'm doing (at least plan on ) lots of Reads and Writes
across a communication channel. I'm told that for the 'receive side'
it'd be prudent to implement a double buffering scheme to handle all
the asnychronous inputs.
Someone mentioned Herb Shutters book as frame of reference,
nonetheless, could someone provide sample code or - in effect an
outline of double buffering? I've perused the web but most references
are to...

My dialog has groupboxes with slow to redraw controls, to improve the
appearance I want to doublebuffer it. While I can use SetStyle() in the
Dailogs constructor the setting change doesn't get propagated to the
groupbox, and since it's a protected method I can't call groupbox.SetStyle().
I've tried deriving a custom class from System.Windows.Forms.GroupBox and
calling SetStyle from inside of it's constructor and from a new method. Both...

Hi
I have a placeholder that has multiple controls that need to be loaded and
rendered to the user based on some user selections. I have to loop through
the choices that the user makes and then load the controls. I am doing this
in the protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer) method.
protected override void Render(HtmlTextWriter writer)
{
foreach (Selection in UsersSelection)

hi
i have an app in which i can drop objects onto a form and move them, it
consists of graphics (lines), i am using double buffering to avoid
filckering in the parent control which is a panel,but when i add
controls to this panel dyanamically, the double buffering effect is not
there, i move all lines connceted to a control when the control is
moved , at this time flickering occurs,also when i enable double
buffering for a child control...

Is there a way to read a line (a series of characters ending in a
newline) from a file (either by descriptor or stream) atomically,
without buffering additional contents of the file?

I'm having trouble modifying some code written by someone else.
The code is very dense and obscure but does work fine. However I need to
insert a block of my own and I've hit what I assume is a buffering
problem.(If there's another answer I'd be grateful ...)
The problem is PHP is refusing to do things in the correct sequence.
I've tried all the variations of flushing I can think of without success.
Can anyone suggest how I can force...

When I ssh in to my Windows XP box and run Python apps, output
from "print" and and "sys.stdout.write()" is being buffered so
that none of the output shows up until the program exits.
From within my program how do I set output buffering to either
line-buffered or un-buffered?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
