Hi,
I have datalayer, business layer, asp.net layer, unit test layer etc. I
would like to centralize my strings to keep things neat. Ideally, the
business layer strings would be in a resource file in the business layer,
the datalayer strings in the data layer etc.....
Given a datalayer called "dl", a business layer called "bl", a asp.net layer
called "pl" and a unit test (console application e.g.) called "test".

Hi,
I am trying to set up my C# web project to be compiled by NANT.
Everything compiles and works fine within the IDE. I have a created a
NANT build file which has a simple project tag, like this:
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<project name="MyProject" default="build" basedir=".">
<description>The Hello World of build files.</description>
<property name="debug" value="true"/>

I have been having some fun learning and using the new Controls and methods in .Net 2.0 which will make my life in the future easier and faster. Specifically the new databinding practises and wizards.
But, I have found that trying to do something "outside the norm" adds a rather large level of complexity and/or data replication.
Background
I have been commissioned to create a web-based application for a client. It has a formsaunthentication...

This post is realy to get some opinions on the best way of getting fast
comunication between multiple applications. I have scowered the web for
imformation on this subject and have just found conflicting views and
far from ideal solutions.
My application has to send small amounts of data about 50bytes to
multiple client applications. The catch is that this has to happen
about 1000 times a second.
My first attempt was .net remotting...

I am resurrecting this question (since it got bumped down by more
recent posts).
This is probably very simple - I need to add a version resource to a
DLL project in MSVC++ 2005 Express in order to have version info,
copyright, etc. when checking the DLL file properties from Windows
Explorer.
Any guidance is appreciated.

Hi,
Which project type do you prefer? Is the web site or web application
project the best solution? The application I am about to write is
completly new so migrating from vs 2003 is not an issue, but it has to
be easy to deploy the application (precompiled, I don't want to give
away my source)

I have learned about compartmentalizing my code base using Class Libraries.
I have my common code such as my ORM framework broken out into their own
Class Libraries, which are referenced as projects from my Website.
I also have a common set of DLLs I use across all of my applications. It
would be great if I could put all of those DLLs into their own projects, and
to reference that project from various solutions.
The way my solution is...

Hi all,
I am writing an application which will intake arguments of filenames for
processing:
e.g. MyApp.exe "C:\abc.txt" "C:\def.doc"
- then, MyApp will process the 2 files by parsing the 2 arguments
- the retrieval method used is My.Application.CommandLineArgs
It works as expected until I work with context menu:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
