Hi
I do a certain amount of VS6 development and have been trying to get my feet wet in .net. This may be a bit of a newbie question though
I am trying to do the Distributed Applications walkthrough in the Visual Studio.net Walkthroughs book that came with the software
I'm having a problem with it detecting my internet connection. We are on a peer to peer network behind a firewall, but with no proxy server. I have no problem going online...

We are using SQL2000 back end for our current web-based ASP application, and
moving to .NET.
We would like a solution where users could connect at the office for example
with their laptop (or PDA), sync with the server via a Windows Forms
application or similar, then go offline to enter data. Then upon returning
to the office, connect and sync.
Any .NET tutorials available?

I have started going through the walkthroughs and am having problems with the
C++ examples that work with Web Services. My walkthroughs (C++ User
Validation Dialog "MyProject" & C++ Temperature Conversion
"TempConvertClient3" the quotes are the names given in the book) are failing
during "HRESULT SendRequest(LPCTSTR szAction)" call. The error code is
SOAPCLIENT_SERVER_ERROR after "m_socket.Navigate(&m_url, &navData)" is
called.
Now the...

This is a bit long-winded. Can somebody read thru these 2 use cases, and
tell me if it is feasible ? :-
Use Case : Replication before Offline Synch
Scenario 1 : Oracle Server , MSDE client
1. User clicks on 'Go Offline'. System creates a MSDE SQL database in
laptop (client), gets the schemas of the tables in Oracle, creates
corresponding tables in client's MSDE SQL (mapping Oracle datatypes to SQL

Hi.
When IE is offline and I try to create a new web application, I
receive an error that says that I need IE online in order to create
the new application. What is the relationship of IE and .net in this
case?
Thanks,

Hi
I need to develop an app in vb 2005 which can work in both offline and
online modes and will be running on client laptops. I have listened to the
following web cast;
http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032271522&EventCategory=3&culture=en-US&CountryCode=US
What I need to know is, do the laptops need to have a local version of sql
server (mobile, express etc.) to accomplish the offline mode?

Hi
I need to write a vb2005/sql server2005 app running over a LAN. Some users
who use laptop need to have the app to have an offline mode for when they
are away. I am new to net and would like to know what will be the
differences in the online-only and online/offline versions of the app? As
not all users need it, is it possible to configure the app so it knows when
it is in desktop (online-only) or laptop modes?
Thanks

In asp.net 2.0 I found this great list of getting started walkthroughs
that take you through what you need to know step by step.
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms186109.aspx
Now I have to go back and do a project in version 1.1 and I can not
find a similar page that lists the walkthroughs in order that would
teach my how to do things in the older version.
Do you know of any such list?

Hello,
I hope this doesn't come across as totally newbieish, but I've been
searching the web and the IBM docs until smoke is coming out of my head.
Scenario: We are trying to take primitive "snapshots" of our production
database into a test environment by taking (what we thought are) offline
backups of production, then doing a redirected restore into test.
Here's the steps I do:

I realize how I'm going about this is somewhat odd. I have to construct a program for windows mobile that only sends a couple queries to a remote MySQL server and hopefully gets some success/fail returns.
(I've got VS2008 pro and the winmobile SDKs)
The 2 problems I have:
1) I'm very well versed in C++, and I know a little C#. I managed to compile some simple winmobile programs, but I'd be more comfortable grabbing a couple of walkthroughs...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
