I've been tasked with integrating an older management system based on
DBF files with my snappy new ASP application to provide users of the
ASP application with real-time data from the management system.
I figure with DBF files, I should use either the DBase drivers or the
FoxPro drivers to connect to the database.
The integration has gone quite smoothly until yesterday. This means
that my connection strings work well based on the...

I am developing in c++, OLEDB, and targeting the Jet backend. I have
realized late in the project that the Jet backend is too slow, and I need to
retarget. I do not want to rewrite my source code. I do not want to pay
royalties. I want better performance. The application is single user, local
access only, but needs high performance. Fancy features are not required in
general ...
Can anyone recommend a new backend?

Do I get more scalability if I split my database? The way I calculate
things now, I'll be lucky to get 100,000 records in my Access 2003 mdb.
Here some math:
Max mdb/mde size = 2000 x 1024 = 2,048,000k
Let's say on average each record in the database consumes 15k
2,048,000/15 = 136,533 records

Hi,
I've a VB script that creates a Access object in a word doc.
Here is the full script.
It works for all but the Export. Which always fails with a 3011 error.
If I do the same in Access as a straight Macro or script it works.
Add it as an object and it won't work.
HELP.

Hello,
I've got a c# app that connects to a dBase database via OLEDB. In one of the
tables there is a Yes/No field. Under the same MDAC (2.71, I'm not sure if
it has anything to do with it), I get different results when I query this
field under XP and 2000. Under XP I get the correct data...True or False.
However, under 2000...the same app/query returns True when the dBase field
value is 0. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone...

Back in ADO days, it was fairly easy to get the meta data (tablenames,
columnnames , etc) .. with all that schema stuff.
I have a Access database, that I'd like to get the list of tableNames in it.
How does one get the metadata about a database thru DotNet?
Thanks.

I have a question about saving an MS Access program to CD and verifyng
that the program works after being saved.
Here is my situation, I have a person who developed an application for
me using MS Access 2003 and the person will be transferring ownership
to me. The developer will be giving me a CD with Access DBase source
code on it. How do I verify that he gives me everthing I need to run
the application once the developer departs. ...

I am trying to figure out how to query some data out of a dbase IV
(.dbf) file sitting on a remote server from my MySQL/PHP/Web Server.
Both servers are Windows Server 2003 SP2.
My MySQL/PHP/Web server is running PHP 4.3.11, MySQL 4.0.24, and IIS.
I have set a system DSN on the remote machine for the directory that
contains the dbase file. The DSN name is SASIxp, and the actual file
I'm trying to connect to is ADST.DBF.

Hello,
We have currently been working with a Microsoft Works (v.4.5a) database, however we have now reached the 32000 record limit. I would like to convert the table to Access (Access 2000) to allow better flexibility and to increase our capacity. I have had some success in doing so: I have saved the works file as a dBASE IV file, and have been able to open it in Access. I thought that everything was great but have now realized that the last...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
