I was curious if the new .NET 2.0 has optimized things to make the EXEs run
faster? Thanks 2 1337
MB,
How can that be for all Exes, when in a simple class someting is added, to
evaluate, than it will go slower and when there are some classes which exist
are only optimezed it will go faster.
The goal is if you can make faster programs with it, however that are in my
opinion always design question that you make, using newer possibilities from
2.0
Just my thought,

I would expect the CLR team to have improved things like the JIT and
the performance of some framework classes by the time 2.0 is released.
I wouldn't expect to see any performance increases in the beta though -
there may well be some extra debug code etc in there. (It might already
be faster in some places, of course.)
Of course, programs written to take advantage of .NET 2.0 features such
as generics may well be faster.

I have 3 VB.net executables that reference the same 3 VB.Net DLLs.
How is the best way to distribute the EXEs without putting 3 copies of
of DLL on a user's machine. I looked into Private assemblies and the
Global Assembly but I am having a hard time figuring them out.
Ideally, I would like to have one install that puts all 3 EXEs and all
3 DLLs on the workstation. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm having a problem using the System.Net.WebClient to download .exes from a web server. I'm testing everything on localhost, and the same code works fine with all other types of file. I even tried renaming the .exe extension of the file in question to .exe2, and that worked! Is there a security setting that doesn't let me download executables (the only error message I get is a timeout)? If so, is there a way to override it... I'm making a tool...

This may be a simple question, but I'm new to .NET and not having much luck
finding out the answer.
I'm writing a Windows Service and want to develop a separate program that
provides a user interface so the user can control the service. They are both
being developed in Visual C# .NET. What is the best way to get them to talk
to each other?
I've heard of remoting, but not sure that is what I need, it seems kind of
overcomplicated and...

If you rebuild a solution without change anything, the new generated
EXEs still has some difference.
Is there a way to find out whether two EXEs are functional same?

I have noticed that my application runs much smoother in the Visual
Basic Development Environment, than it does using the .exe located in
the project's "bin" folder. Is this the right .exe to be using? Also, if
it is, is there any way to make the .exe work as smoothly as it does
inside the Dev Environment?
Thanks,

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
