Cannot instantiate Office object in .NET code behind

Hello,

This error does not occur on my machine, but does when I move to our
development web server (Heard that before right?:-))

I am trying to execute this line in my code behind so that I can start to
programatically build a word doc, but it fails everytime with an 'Access
denied' message:
Dim WordApp As New Word.Applicatio n

I checked the Event viewer system log and I've verified that executing the
above line puts this entry in the log:
'Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM Server using
DefaultLaunchPe rmssion. The server is:
{000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
The user is ASPNET/QRC9-INTRA1,
SID=S-1-5-21-842925246-1078145449-725345543-1036.'

QRC9-INTRA1 is our intranet server, I gave the ASPNET account on that box
admin rights, and still the error. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

H We have ported our VB 6 application into VB .NET but are still integrating with a few COM + applications written in VB6 running on our application server (Win 2000 Server). We have the proxies to link to the application server installed but we every now and then get a error when we try to make a call to a component running on the app server. The error message is something like Object reference not set to an instance of an objec at...

I have a function that takes a reference to a class, and then instantiates that class (and then does several other things with the new instance). This is easy enough: item = cls(self, **itemArgs) where "cls" is the class reference, and itemArgs is obviously a set of keyword arguments for its __init__ method. But now I want to generalize this to handle a set of mix-in classes.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
