ASP.net cookieless sessions

Does anyone know of a way to implement cookieless sessions in ASP.net by tacking on the session ID to the querystring, rather than setting cookieless="tru e" in the web.config file? I see that some websites (e.g. match.com) are using ASP.NET and are implementing cookieless sessions in this manner, yet everything I read says that the only method of implementing cookieless sessions is by setting cookieless="tru e" and letting ASP.net "do it's thing" by inserting /(sessionID)/ into relative URLs. What gives? What purpose would the Session.Session ID property have then, other than entertainment value?

Hi, I really need to use cookieless ASP sessions with ASP 3 (IIS5) Can I find out the session ID from the first page, then post it or send it with the url to the next page, then at the start of the next page asp, set the session ID from the value retrieved from the URL? How do you manually set the session ID?

Hello, we are having problems displaying non-aspx files (images, style sheets) since we have upgraded to the 1.1 framework when using a cookieless session (sessionID in the url). Check out our file system set up below. Now, in an aspx page, we set as the "src" of our images something like "../images/animage.jpg". If the current actual url in the browser is something like http://server/webapp/(someSessionID)/forms/form1.aspx

I experimented/researched cookieless sessions and tried it on my website. I expected the switch to cookieless sessions to be transparent but this isn' t the case at all: 1) Forms based authentication doesn't work I read that the Whidbey release will support this and you can make it work today: http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet/cookieless.asp Still, it's a showstopper for most websites

According to the docs you tell ASP.NET to use cookieless sessions by setting a value in the config.web file. However, what if I wanted to determine at run time whether or not I wanted to use cookieless sessions for a particular user, and if so, I'd instruct ASP.NET to turn on cookieless sessions for a particular user session. Is this possible? For example I want to use cookie based sessions by default for all users. But if a user has...

Hi gang, This one looks like a bug :o( As you may or may not know, setting session management in web.config to use cookieless sessions causes the ASP.NET runtime to munge a session ID into the URL, in the format http://yourapplicationpath/(Session.SessionID)/... which saves numerous headaches when it comes to storing state across page requests and sessions.

I have an odd scenario. I am working on a hybrid site that uses various development platforms, namely traditional ASP and Lasso (a Mac scripting language). The site uses its own custom sessions stored in a mySQL database, and state is maintained through the URL, passing a session GUID in the URL between page calls. For example: http://localhost/index.html?-session=42FFA3821db04174BBRxjX1B4B48

I have a question about cookies & browser permissions and turning off cookies when creating a web site (cookieless mode in web.config). I have a web site that of course uses Session variables. But we decided to turn off the cookieless mode because the client specifically said her browser did not allow cookies. Anyway, when searching about it, I found out that by setting cookieless = true the session cookie is embedded into the URL sent...

Is there any way to have a user use cookieless sessions at runtime on a case-by-case basis? Or do cookieless sessions have to be turned on globally in the web.config for all users of the web application? We are attempting to set an Outlook folder to display a web page (ala Microsoft CRM 3's Outlook integration), but Outlook's implementation of the IE browser control appears to force a new session whenever you open a new browser window...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
