Textarea objects instead of text boxes in datagrids

How do I specify inside a datagrid that does edits/updates, that a
certain field should display its contents in TEXTAREA html objects, not
text box controls. See tag in boundcolumn/datagrid control:

<asp:BoundColum n
DataField="samp leletext"
HeaderText="Sam ple Text">
</asp:BoundColumn >

...and if I can put a textarea object in a datagrid, will I use the
..text method to parse the data from that field name when calling my sql
parameters and such:

MyCommand.Param eters.Add(New SQLParameter("@ sampletext",
sampletext.text ))

...when I tried using this reference to display "sampletext " inside a
textarea:

Dim sampletext As textarea = E.Item.cells(5) .Controls(0)

...i got a "Type 'textarea' is not defined" error.

thanks for help

I haven't specified fonts, leaving the user to have their chosen font. However, different tags render in different default fonts: text, input, & textarea all different from one another. I guess this is normal behaviour, but it looks poor, and I don't want our website to look that way (to out of the box browsers). How would I set textarea's 'like' input, or how would I determine (Javascript?) what's being used by an input field, to set...

if you look at http://www.emrose.net/contact1.html the last field is a textarea field and I can't make it align with the other text fields. it's pretty close, but this comes from trial and error. what do I have to do to make these fields align both right and left? does the size= attribute in a text input give you the same dimension as the cols= attribute in a textarea? seems like it doesn't.

I'm trying to design an HTML page that can edit itself. In essence, it's just like a Wiki page, but my own very simple version. It's a page full of plain old HTML content, and then at the bottom, there's an "Edit" link. So the page itself looks something like this: <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>blah</TITLE></HEAD><BODY> <!-- TEXT STARTS HERE --> <H1>Hello World!</H1> <P>More stuff here...</P>

I am working on an application that requires working with numbers in scientific notation. I am using SqlServer as the database and I have created strongly typed data adapters and datasets. The numbers are defined as numeric in the SqlServer Database and are bound to text boxes in the app. In the dataset xml these numbers are defined as decimal. I am using the binding method Format to display the data in scientific notation and Parse to...

I have an ArrayList of data gathered from a database. I want to create a web page from this data by creating a <table>, each cell in each row displays the appropriate data. One of those cells in each row needs a <textarea> control. The background supporting classes are completed, the only task left now is to create the web page. I am at a loss on how to create the table in the page populated by the data. Previously, I would have just...

The w3schools HTML tag reference for <textarea> http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_textarea.asp says that the attributes 'cols' and 'rows' are REQUIRED attributes for the textarea tag. Looking at the HTML 4.01 specification I see this, too. What I'm wondering is - 'cols' & 'rows' determines the height & width of a textarea. So shouldn't that be something that is handled by CSS instead? What would be the practical consequence of leaving...

Hi all, I wrote a simple search function to find text in a textarea where not all the text is visible (ie. the text box displays 10 lines but there may be more than 1000 lines to search). I can find the text and select it using the function below, BUT I can't figure out how to have the textarea automatically scroll to the selection in Firefox. Any ideas or suggestions? function search(needle,haystack,start) { var element =...

I'm trying to write my own UBB editor. If a user types...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
