Inexplicable oversized UI components

Hi,
I own two computers. Both running Windows 2000. On one of those, some
application windows appear bloated. I am testing an email client being
developed here. The client window takes up half the screen area on one
computer, and 2 screenfuls on the other. No scrollbars, nothing I just can
not see some parts of that window because it is larger than my screen.
Resizing doesn't help either. And this is happening right after
installation. Right when I launch the application for the first time. So
this is certainly not the case that "I had myself resized the window on
last use, and the app remembered it".
Because of this blown up window size, some of the buttons become
invisible, and I can not click on them. Can anybody explain why the app is
working fine on one computer while not on the other?
This is happening in the case of only that one application, and none else.
but I do not think the application is faulty, because it shows the window
fine on my other computer. Both computers are using the same display
resolution.
Any idea why this may be happening?

thanks,

Hi, As you know, all the non-ui components (like Timer control, etc.) that sit on the form are contained in its private variable 'components'. How can I enumerate such components from any form instance given to me? I have no access to the source of the given form instance, but I can impose that the form be inherited from certain base class I provide. Would appreciate any inputs. If there is other way to access the non-ui

Greetings, I don't know about you guys but on many occasions I've asked myself whether or not someone else has solved a particular programming issue -- whether or not they developed a clever pattern for doing some task quite well. This usually leads me to a search on today's greatest technical tool, The Internet. I indefinitely uncover many potential code snippets, components, etc. and have to weed through them to find the best one...

I have a custom UserControl, which can have many sub class levels derived from it. I want to be able to discover all the components at Load time, but the only components I can see from the base class are the private components internal to the base class itself. What I want are ALL components for the entire class no matter how many levels of sub-classing this particular control contains. I do not want to have to force the child classes to...

I am trying to deploy an asp.net application to my web server. My application uses system.data.oledb to connect to an oracle database. On my development machine I have the oracle client 10g installed and my application works. But on the Web server I get the error below. I believe it is because the Oracle client was not installed on the web server. The web server has two drives, our techs installed the oracle client on one drive and my...

Dear all, I write my own components for my project and add them in "My User Control" under the toolbar. Some time later, I make some other new components into it and want to use them in my application. Thus I rebuild the "component" project again, but I can't find them in my "application" project. Therefore, I choose my "component" project dll file again in "Add/Remove Item" from "My User Control". This time, I not only see my new...

Is there a way to iterate the components on a form? I need to determine whether an instance of my custom component (a System.ComponentModel component) is present in a form. I have tried iterating the Controls collection, but components do not appear to be in that collection-- I think it's because components inherit from MarshalByRefObject, rather than Control. So, how do I find a form's components collection? Thanks in advance.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
