System level calls

Hi all,

I am just new to VB .Net development arena. Previously I have used VB lot for developing software. As far as I know, in VB to use system level calls, such as, keybd_event, I had to write "Declare sub ........ " (Hope you understand what I mean).

I want to call the same system level procedure using VB .net. May I know how I can achieve it?

Thanks

In 'Design Patterns Explained' 2nd Ed. by Alen Shalloway and James R. Trott, on P. 55, he discusses a CAD system. It has a front end and back end non object oriented system. The back end system is being upgraded. He creates the new system using object oriented code. The old system is still accessible to the company wanting the upgrade via the front end, as they have much invested in the old system and can't simply do away with it. The...

Hi all, While working on an Access UI to a MySQL database (which should be a reasonable, low-cost, flexible interface to the DB, better than web-based, much less costly than a full-fledged .NET app or so.... is it?), I tried measuring the bandwith consumed by the Access/MyODBC/MySQL link, which came out to be, er, quite high. I fancied it would be interesting to look at the queries Access throws at MySQL through the ODBC link, so I...

I wrote a script(1) replacement in python (http://stromberg.dnsalias.org/ ~dstromberg/pypty/), but I'm encountering a problem in it. I think I know the solution to the problem, but I'd've thought python was high level enough that this solution isn't required, so I wanted to inquire about it here. Specifically, the program has a signal handler for window size changes. And if the window is resized during an os.write() (for example), I...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
