Hello!
I do have the following problem:
I've developed a Windows application which communicates with a
DB2-database on the iSeries platform using an ODBC-connection string.
This ODBC-connection-string refers to a system-connection configured
within the iSeries Navigator based on the Windows username and password
of the logged-on user.

Hi guys,
I'm using Windows authentication to connect to SQL Server 2000. On my
computer the connection is fine. Now if I move it to a remote server, how
to I hard code my Username/Password in my connection string (using Windows
NT authentication and not SQL Server authentication)?
Thank you
Maz.

Questions:
1) Is this patch (fix) applicable to the .NET 1.1
Framework as well? That is, if we have Framework 1.1 (On
Win2K3/IIS6.0), do we still need this patch?
2) Does it specifically solve only this error:
The underlying connection was closed. An unexpected error

Hello,
I have developed a web application that connects to 2 different database
servers. The connection strings with db username + password are stored in
web.config file.
After a code review, one developer suggested that it's a security flaw;
therefore connection strings should be kept somewhere else or encrypted.
My argument is that web.config file is protected by IIS and Windows security
which is the case. And another argument is that...

Hi,
I am using VB 2005. My application has many data bound controls. The
connection is stored in the app.config file.
I want the application to start with a default connection string and
while during the runtime, the user can click on a button and change the
connection string without exiting the application.
I would really appreciate any sort of help.

I am using VS2003 and connecting to MS Access database.
When using a connection pooling (every time I open the OLEDBCONNECTION I use
the exact matching connection string),
1. how can I know how many connection has been used ?
2. If the maximum pool size has been reached, what happens when I call the
method Open to open the connection ? Will I get an error ? MSDN says the
request is queued, but will I get an error in the open method ?

In the Windows application (using VB.NET 2005) I use connection pooling like
the following:
In the main form load I open a connection using a connection string that I
stored in a global variable g_sConnectionString and leave this connection
open and not close it until it exits the application.
Then on each thread/each subsequent sub that needs the connection I create a
local OleDBConnection variable, open the connection using the exact...

I wrote an ASP.NET application that queries a SQL Server database (on a
different box from the web server) and displays the result in a GridView.
The datasource for the GridView is a SQLDataSource. Just to get it to work,
I hard-coded the username and password of a SQL Server account in the
connectionstring in web.config. Once I confirmed that this worked on the
web server, I wanted to remove the hard-coded password from web.config, so I...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
