Miksim,

Add it to the Global Access Cache (GAC). Look up GAC in the index of your
..Net help. Tells you exactly how to install an assembly into the GAC.

I keep receiving this "The type or namespace name 'CASsEventHandler' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" message in two particular lines, and I've tried everything... Could anyone please paste this and tell me what I'm doing wrong ? I use SerialPort.zip, which can be downloaded at http://www.gotdotnet.com/Community/UserSamples/Details.aspx?SampleGuid=b06e30f9-1301-4cc6-ac14-dfe325097c69 ...

I have a C# solution with a dozen or so projects. There are references between the projects, and these were all added as "Project" references. Everything's been working fine for months, but suddenly today it all collapsed in a heap. I get a mysterious error when running the project: "The located assembly's manifest definition with name '<MyClass>' does not match the assembly reference" Using the fuslogvw tool I can see that the...

I have created an assembly and assigned a strong name to it. However I want to reference it from another application and i want its name to appear in the add reference dialog box, I think I should add a some kind of a registry value but i don't know where and what value. a second question, I heard about Asp.net 2.0 and visual studio 2005 does it mean that they will also change the MCSD soon? and If you are MCSD what are you going to do...

When trying to add a reference to a DLL (made with VS2005TS) to a VS2003 project, I receive the following error popup: A reference to 'assemblyname.exe' could not be added. This is not a valid assembly or COM component. Only assemblies with extension 'dll' and COM components can be referenced. Please make sure that the file is accessible, and that it is a valid assembly or COM component. I have tried Googling for a solution, and I did...

In regards to this MSDN article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306149 .... how do I add the registry key? I got confused on three points: 1) I do not have a key named ".NETFramework" under the "Microsoft" key. Should I just create it? 2) I don't know what to add to the "MyAssemblies" folder.

We are having a lot of trouble with problems relating to failures relating to 'The located assembly's manifest definition with name 'xxx' does not match the assembly reference" but none of us here really understand how this could be an issue. The assemblies that the system is complaining about are ones that we build here and we're not changing version numbers on anything. The errors come and go with no apparent rhyme or reason. We do not...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
