Hi,
I've got a question about whether there are any issues with directly
calling attributes and/or methods of a threaded class instance. I
wonder if someone could give me some advice on this.
Generally, the documentation suggests that queues or similar constructs
should be used for thread inter-process comms. I've had a lot of
success in doing that (generally by passing in the queue during the
__init__ of the thread) and I can see...

Hi,
we have a contention problem because of an application which tries to
insert a duplicate row in a table with primary key. This insert fails
of course but the locks are not released within this transcation.
Why DB2 does not release the X lock after a failed insert???
We use DB2 UDB EEE Version 7.2 Fixpak 9, but we also can reproduce the
Problem on DB2 UDB ESE 8.1 Linux Fixpak 4.

DB2 v7.2 (FP7 - DB2 v7.1.0.68) on AIX 5.2.0.0.
We're seeing unexpected single row (then commit) insert locking
behaviour.
We're seeing Applications that already hold row-level W locks in
lock-wait, waiting to acquire row-level X locks. The lock-waits are
behind applications that have row-level X locks on different rows
(honestly). Both executing and lock-waiting applications have been
granted IX table locks.

Ok, I'm a little rusty on this, it should be a simple problem but I
can't figure it out. How can I handle form events in my main code
page??
I'm creating a Windows App in C#. Rather than make my main form the
startup object, I'd rather put my Main() function in a class or code
file. Why? Because thats what I always do in standard C++ or VB. In
my opinion, writing all my application logic in the form itself is
sloppy and only for...

I am reading events from an event log on a remote server. Certain events
will be put in a file or some other form of output. Everything works fine
but I am concerned a potential problem. Reading about how events are
handled, I found that the message property of an event is not recorded but
rather accessed from the source dll file. While testing my code I found that
when accessing the message property of a remote event log the message is...

I have a service that checks the event log for certain types of error
messages. It kept locking up so I put in debugging code to see where
the problem was. It's locking up when I call the property
EventLogEntry.Message. I have search message boards and have found a
few people complaining that this property throws a strange exception.
It doesn't just lock up the thread that is calling it, but it locks up
other unrelated threads too. In...

Timeout Calling Web Service
I am calling a .NET 1.1 web service from an aspx page. The web service can
take several minutes to complete its tasks before returning a message to the
aspx page.
If the web service is taking a long time to complete, the aspx page returns
a ‘The operation has timed-out.’ Message to the web browser after 100 seconds.
I’ve added: <httpRuntime executionTimeout="300" /> to the web.config files

I'm using vs2005, .net 2.0 on Windows 2000 server.
When I double click on an entry of the "Security" log in the system's "Event
Viewer", a Property window pops up. In this window, there is a "Description"
section that lists many different information like "User Name:, "Domain",
"Login ID"......
How can I obtain each of this inforation in my program? Thank you.

Thanks.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
