Could it be that others shun him because of the bright glow shining from

The war of the OSes was won a long time ago.
Unix has always been, and will continue to be, the Server OS in the form
of Linux.
Microsoft struggled mightily to win that battle -- creating a poor man's
DBMS, a broken email server and various other /application/ servers to
try and crack the Internet and IS markets.
In the case where they didn't spend their own money to get companies to

What is /automatic/ garbage collection, and how do I know that it is
really efficient?
If I use mono, I can look at the code.
But if I use Java and .NET -- I have no idea.
A brilliant programmer called Jeff Relf just discovered a more efficient
way of clearing memory -- does GC do this?

New image of Jeff Relf and His Trackball.
http://www.ottawaathleticclub.com/images/trackballs.jpg
Yes, Jeff, the buttons are falling apart...the contacts worn, the MicroCrud
drivers bit-cracking with every click -- XP has made the TrackBall unusable
-- that's right -- a M$ product, destroying any backwards compatibility to
the insipid FOOLS who purchased a trackball.

Hello, all. I have just completed watching all the videos of Jeff
Prosise's "Learn ASP.NET 2.0" at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/reference/multimedia/. Although the
videos are a year old, I found the information very informative and picked
up a number of things during the training.
My question is this: does anyone know where I can obtain the source to this
video series? I cannot seem to find anything on MSDN.
If anyone has the...

I have an Trackball Optical 1.0, and the left button often causes IE to go
to the previous screen instead of the action clicked on. The CD driver was
reloaded and makes no difference. a different trackball does not exhibit the
behavior. The Optical does the same thing on another computer. any Ideas?
Thanks!

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
