Anybody here created an agent? I need to create an agent that runs as a
Windows service. The agent would listen on a certain TCP port and run
executable files sent to it from a master program.
I have these questions:
- Is C# a decent language to write this in?
- If there are any major issues, what are they?
- Do you know where I can find example source code for such a project?
It can be in almost any language.

I'm stumped. I'm working on an application in VB.Net that uses
System.Messaging.MessageQueue to listen for messages sent to a
private queue on a remote machine. Both machines are in the same
Workgroup in a small private LAN. The messaging is working fine, but
since the remote machine is used as a control system and has to be
rebooted when there is a configuration change, I have to handle the
remote queue going down and coming back up...

I am developing a web service that uses SSL client certificates for
authentication. It works fine with self-generated certificates, but our
customer's CA wants specific information about what exactly is needed in the
certificate for it to work.
I've found that including the extended key usage OID for client

Has anybody worked with performancecounter object to access counters on
remote machine?
I managed to write code that retrieves counters categories froma remote
machine, when I try another remote machine I get
"System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception" error. Error message is
"The network path was not found."
I have checked running services (RPC, Remote registery.....) on both
machines and they are exactly the same.

I am using HTTPWebRequest to add a client certificate. I am then
using HTTPWebRequest to POST xml to a web service which requires the
attached client certificate to authenticate with their server
certificate. However, I keep getting an error "Unable to connect to
remote server". I know I am able to connect to their server and
retrieve an XML response as we were able to do this using our old
