Deploying GAC dlls to a server

Hello everyone,

I am looking into deploying this ASP.NET application which uses a
number of private and public assemblies.

When I compile the apllication does that automatically copy the public
assemblies from the GAC or do I have to do this manually.

I must explicity have this public assemblies within my own application
as it will be deplyed to another computer which might not have the
ashred assemblies.

Many Tanks in advance

Philip

Hi there, hope someone can help me on this: I'm planning to deploy several ASP.NET projects to a production server. Normally I used the "Project / Copy project" option in VS.NET, but to this production server I only have FTP access. I tried copying the files with a FTP tool, but it seems that every application needs to have an own virtual directory, is this true? Or is it possible to just make 1 virtual directory and put al the projects...

Hi all, I am still learning ASP.Net, and .Net in general. Though I feel I have much of the "basics" down, I am running into some gray areas in more advanced topics. My question is how I make sure that a class file (DLL) I wrote and am using (via "Add Reference") on my development webserver still works correctly when I copy all my files over to the production server. Do I need to create the same folders on the production server as on...

Hi, I've gotten the following attached error after copying some aspx and dll files from my dev server to production server. The error persisted after I disabled the index server, restart IIS, and even reboot the server which is a Windows 2003 server. The error message seems to point to compiled dlls in Temporary ASP.NET Files folder. How do I get rid of this error?

Hello The application I'm building an installer for uses dlls which were developed originally in C. Since the application itself is developed in C#, these dlls were wrapped using SWIG. Initially, the machine environment variables were set to enable code development; however, I am facing problem deploying the application. To work with these wrapped libraries, the application seems to access a specific dll, for instance, let's say the C...

Firstly, I am a fairly new .Net developer, so please excuse any dumb/ignorant questions or comments. Thanks. I created a VWD Express project, which uses the ReportViewer control, on my local machine. I had to download the ReportViewer control from MS and install it on my machine in order for this to work. I have the project working on my local machine, but I am running into some problems trying to deploy to another development server....

I'm still stuck on the .dll and bin folder mentality in 1.1. When deploying a 2.0 web application, there is no web .dll to deploy? So is this how we deploy in 2.0? 1. Copy the app_code folder 2. Copy the bin directory containing any pre-compiled dlls 3. Move BOTH aspx AND aspx.vb files into the applicable directories (is this correct?) If so, we're just duplicating the file system from the development

Hi, I usually deploy my ASP .NET application to the server by publishing, using Visual Studio 2005 publish feature. This creates the Bin folder on the server, with the compiled DLLs. I've been asked to publish by copying the files manually instead. I stopped IIS for the application, deleted the application files and subfolders from the server, copied the files and folders from my local PC's project,

Using Visual Studio 2005, I have created 4 small DLLs that our company projects can use to access common tools included in each of the separate DLL files. Our Visual Studio 2005 applications call the DLLs and run them without any problem. Now we are trying to deploy the first of these applications, and we are now stumped. The Visual Studio 2005 Deployment Project includes all of the DLL files and successfully creates the setup.exe...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
