Am I doing something dumb? Ween searching for posts in this system I enter words from my posts - that I know are in there - and the search keeps coming back with nothing found. I entered the original; I KNOW it is there
Further, I search, as a test, for posts I'm looking at on the screen and using words from their subject line, and it tells me "nothing found!
Is there a way to find posts from an author without starting with a post from that author? 2 1653
Depends what newsreader you're using. I'm using OE 6 and have found the
search lousy as well. I tend to use Google instead.

Hi, Norm
As Rob says, it depends on the search engine. Another factor is latency.
Some engines cache and search that rather than doing a live search, so the
most recent posts may not show up. Google is the standard until something
better comes along.

Hello All,
I have been working on this for almost a week now and I haven't anything up
my sleeves anymore that I could test in addition or change....
Since I am not sure, if this is a Windows 2003 Server or ADO or ODBC issue,
I am posting this on all of the three newsgroups.
That's the setup:
Windows 2003 Server with IIS and ASP.NET actiavted
Access 2002 mdb file (and yes, proper rights are set on TMP paths and path,

Is there any way to find a string representing an object's class,
which will work in Internet Explorer 6?
"typeof" doesn't work -- it returns "object" for all objects:
x = window.open('http://www.yahoo.com/');
alert(typeof x);
And I found this page:

Hello all. I'm an access newbie trying to learn how to do basic
database data manipulations. I had a hard time searching the archives
on this question as I don't really know what I'm looking for in this
case, so please refer me to previous posts that address my question.
Thanks in advance.
My question relates to finding complimentary data sets using queries.
For the sake of discussion, lets say that I have a database that

Hi there!
I'm using PHP to create a simple, dynamic MySQL SELECT query.
The user chooses a selection from a HTML Form SELECT element's many options
and submits the form via a POST action.
The SELECT query is built as follows:
$itemtype = stripslashes(trim($_POST));

Here is the code I have so far. It connects to a db and grabs headers.
It then sorts them into groups and then puts all the complete ones
into another table. Problem I am having is that for some reason now it
is not finding ones that are single posts. Here is an example of a
header for a single.
(Ask the Dust ) - "atd-ftc-repack.nfo" www.ctjes.com (1/1)
(1/1) at the end means it is part 1 of a 1 part post.
Any help would be...

Hi there,
I have a website that functions fine locally, but when published to the
server it develops a bottleneck during loading some of the pages. Basically
what happens is the page loads to about 25% then it freezes for anything
from 10 - 40 seconds, before suddenly loading the rest of the page.
Of course I understand that this could be down to some code on the page
locking the thread or suchlike, but I would like to be able to be...

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
