Dear all: I need your advice on this matter. I am working on a program which takes some pieces of System-C code in and generate some other System-C code. (System-C code is just C++ with some special libraries, hence you can consider it as C++). Right now, the generator program is written in C++. And I feel not so comfortable with C++. I feel C++ is an overkill. Because, I need to generate some code, hence in the program there are a...

We are not alone! "Where other MDA tools are generating programmingcode, Codeless chooses not to generate code at all". OK, phpPeanuts is not an MDA tool (it has no fancy modeling GUI). But it does generate application behavior straight from the metamodel, without generating code. And we did not need "a decade of know-how in maintaining systems with more than 30 million lines of generated code" to understand that it is not necessary to...

I am writing a web based C# application that will allow users to post images files to the server and also view them (like a photo album). The back end database is Access. If you have any good code references, please let me know. Thanks.

Reposted from aspnet.buildingcontrols: Ok, I've got a bunch of derived controls that all have a property Rights of type Rights (Rights is an Enumerator). I wrote a custom TypeConverter so that I can use comma separated values in design-time. The TypeConverter works great in design-time. It converts to and from just fine... However, when I try to load any page in the site now I get the following error (Following the error is code for the...

Hello, i am having this problem. The exact error message is: "Unable to generate code for a value of type 'System.Web.UI.Page'. This error occurred while trying to generate the property value for Page." After a lot of googling, all i can find that this applies to is when trying to use enum-type datatypes as bit-vector flags, or when use designers to make an expandable property in the property tool-window. However, NEITHer of these...

Hi all, I have an ASP.NET 2.0 website in Visual Studio 2005 (ie I open it with File | Open Web Site...). I have put XML comments in the source code in the App_Code directory (with <summary> tags, etc) and I want to turn these into XML files that can then be run through NDoc (along with app_code.dll) to produce help files. I've even found an (apparently stable) port of NDoc for v2.0 of the framework. So no problem, I'll just go to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
