Windows Server 2003 system requirements

kdt
Please help

I have a spare Pentium III that I want to install the Windows Server 2003. I have checked the list of Windows Server 2003 system requirements against the machine that I have. It seems like it meets the requirements. But I want to double check with the experiences. Here is my system

System type: X86-based P
Processor: x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 6, 864 Mh
Total Physical Memory: 261,000 K
Available Physical Memory: 123,000 K
Total Virtual Memory: 894,000 K
Available Virtual Memory: 619,000 K
Page File Space: 632,000 K

Would you recommend me to install the Windows Server 2003 or just go with the Windows Server 2000 or Windows Server advanced 2000 ? Please help. I want to use Visual Studio .NET 2003 with the Windows Server 2003 operating system.

Thank you very much

kd

I have a need to become familiar with SQL Server 2000 for work. Needless to say I am new to SQL Server any version, but not IT in general. My employer has provided me with the SQL Server 2000 Personal disk from the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise kit as this is reported here on the MSDN web site to be the version that is supported on Windows XP. In fact so many of you kind people confess to having succeeded in doing it. I have tried...

Hi, How can I get if the Windows running is a server version? Is there a property somewhere that can tell me if the Windows version is a server edition (including server, advanced server, web server, etc) or just a workstation (if it's not a workstation, then it's a server). My app must verifies that for security reasons. It should work from at least windows 2000 (Windows 98 and ME, would appreciated to, but if it's not possible, I'll...

Hi all, I have a windows service (on client machine) that monitors a MSMQ queue (on server machine). When a new message is in the server queue, the client windows service will get the message and does some process. What I want to do now is create a small windows application that sits on the client machine and monitor the activities of the windows service. I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003 with C#. The question is how can I monitor a...

I tried Microsoft website to find answers to my questions but to no avail. 1 - After installation, is Windows Server 2003 an operating system on its own? 2 - If so, is it much like XP Professional where one can also use it as a regular home PC? 3 - Does it need XP Professional installed on the PC as a prerequisit to its own installation? I ask these questions because I just bought Visual Studio 2005 Professional and I see that XP Pro...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
