Hi,
I have used the setup wizard to build an installer that installs my
asp.net application. Problem is, at my current job, they have an
alternative web folder at the root level (to clarify, at the Default
Web Site level, there is also another Web Folder).
When I run the installer, it only wants to install the site under the
Default Web Site, and doesn't appear to have any way of selecting the
alternative location.

Hi Guys,
I've been used to deploying code to the production server by checking
out of subversion and manually sorting out any kinks. (yes, I know, it
sounds primitive)
I realize I'm losing so much time I could spend more productively. I'd
therefore like to know the different approaches you guys employ to
deploy builds from your staging servers (or laptops:) to the production
server in an automated repeatable safe manner.

We have a webservice that we have been deploying using the deployment
project in Visual Studio. Now we are trying to deploy this service to
a server that has multiple sites. I have looked everywhere in the
deployement project to see where I can allow the person installing to
choose the root, but I can't find anything.
Is there a way to install in a desired root using the deployment
project? or is Visual Studio installer more of a...

In our setup project, we have the standard web
application folder, but we also have 4 web custom folders
(virtual directories) that are created at the same level
as the web application folder (i.e. not subdirectories).
The setup works fine as long as the user leaves the
default setting of port 80. If they choose something
different, the install program loads the web application
folder correctly at the non-standard port, but it

I'm planning to deploy several ASP.NET projects to a production server.
Normally I used the "Project / Copy project" option in VS.NET, but to this
production server I only have FTP access. I tried copying the files with a
FTP tool, but it seems that every application needs to have an own virtual
directory, is this true? Or is it possible to just make 1 virtual directory
and put al the projects...

I have multiple .Net web apps that live on a web server that hosts
multiple .Net sites.
I want to use the Web Application Installer but it looks like it
installs the web app in the default web site (the one that is
x:\inetpub\wwwroot. I need it to go to another web site.
Each web sites use different ips and some use host header names. Is
there a way to specify the site to release to not a virtual directory.

I havent been able to find a way to do this. However, we can chose a
port on which we can do a deployment.
